Actually guys, I am in :gulp: Ohio. What is a good site to get aeg's? I like a lot of the guns on www.airsoft.net I just want to get some good prices. I really like that Gas blowback 1911 A1 hi power. That and the mp5 sd5, sd6, and m16a2. Any big differences in the way these shoot?

www.mdairsoft.com and www.airsofttoys.com have....basically...the lowest prices in the US of A. if you want some price comparisons... check out www.airsoft-guide.com. then go into their gear guide section...and check out the AEG's... you won't find any cheaper than Airsofttoys and MDairsoft...at least not stateside... if either site doesn't have any weapons you want in stock...shoot them emails...and they'll get them ASAP. the two of them are the only stores i'd recommend. good service, quick responce, and it's keeping the cash in the USA.

thanks for the sites man! Are there any real performance advantages with a rifle (m16) over an mp5 or is distance and accuracy pretty even?

the accuracy of the MP5 will be far less....the barrel isn't nearly as long...so the BB doesn't have as much of a chance go get...'straightened'.
the MP5's are plenty accurate, tho...i was using one at the last skirmish (the one i just bought.) ;D ... and it's pretty damn nice for it's size.
if you want a nice median between the M16 and the MP5, get an M4A1.

just get the M4. The XM is all plastic...while it's essentially the same gun as the M4...except the M4 has a metal reciever.

Bigmack, I think you meant to say the M4 has a metal barrel, because both the XM and M4 have ABS recievers.
The XM is a good gun. It's just a little limited when it comes to upgrades (cosmetic and internal).

I have the TM XM177-E2 and I'm investing in a metal M16 SMG Flash hider so it looks like a colt commando. It's a great gun and it looks purty with my scope on it

Yeah, thanks again guys. I am just doing a lot of reading on different guns. I am thinking I am going to go with an mp5 to start with since there are some good priced ones.

Although guns with longer barrels have better accuracy and go a little farther, there isn't much difference between the AEG's.
All MP5's (exept the K) and all M16's have very similar internals. Even the G3 series (exept the PSG-1) uses the same gearbox and motor.
Whenever buying an airsoft gun, remember that buying things in packages, or buying upgrades already on the gun saves money in the future. For example, buying an MP5 with a full stock is only 5 bucks more than an MP5 without one. If you wanted to buy one separate, it would be 50.
Also try DEN (http:www.dentrinity.com) and wargamers (http://www3.wargameclub.com/WGC_Shop/)
They have good prices too.

None of the American stores that I have seen can compare to the prices overseas. The shipping may be much more, coming from tokyo, but prices more than make up for it, also most aegs nowadays come with a battery package, saving you some money. I was unlucky when buying mine about two years ago, having to buy the battery separate. Some great foreign sites nowadays, I think, are: www.airsoftshop.com (my favorite), www.redwolfairsoftshop.comas well as ones that Ed mentioned.

My MP5 Attacker is built on the PDW model. It runs a 9.6 batts. The mod involved clearing out that top section. I did not do it, a Steve Wiley at Airsoft Supply did the surgery. It's plenty accurate and powerful enough. Overseas is great, but when it goes bad, well it requires some patience. Wargamers was great to work with, and FAST on the shpg. You can't go wrong with Airsoft Toy or MD Airsoft either.

It is really quite simple to modify the gun to accomadate the larger battery. Unfortunately, robo forgot what he learned in electronics class. adding an extra cell in series only increases voltage, not amperage. The amperage does not even neccessarily increase the capacity. But I will say, I have the pdw, and if discharged and chearged correctly, 1 bat last plenty longer than the kirmish.

I can vouch for those stick batteries, every time, mine have lasted much longer than any squirmish on a full charge. More volts = faster rate of fire which is a plus that the stick does not quite have.
