Why are games never played at night? It seems like the untimate addition to airsoft scenarios. Certain scenarios could be played easily at night and add a lot to the game like not being able to see the entire field at once and the obvious entity of darkness. I just want to know what everbody thinks about this topic.

I think it would be a great experience to play at night, even if I couldn't see. The game types would be limited basic scenarios like team deathmatch and attack/defend because of not being able to see flags and other points.

I play with all my friends at night, because I only have an acre of land and live in a subdivision. It's a ton cooler playing at night, where you have to really move quietly, scan the distance, and creep around in the shadows. From a skirmish-hoster's standpoint, it's dangerous, simply put. You *need* to be 100% sure there are no spots that somebody could trip and die (literally, people), fall off some ledge, or get caught in some wire or anything. Basically, it's a whole different situation because most people have poor to no night vision (well, some crazies like me can see in almost pitch black for a good distance, but most people don't have better than 20/20 vision like me, so oh well ;D). If everyone was issued or required to bring a flashlight, that's a different story, but realistically, people, it's a safety issue. Personally, I wouldn't want to play in a place I'd never played in before at night. It'd be pretty scary to fall in a hole and get stuck, and nobody find you until the next day (if that). ;D ;D Oh well, good luck, I'm sticking to night play at my house and it works great, although nobody I've played with has been able to see more than 20 feet at night.

Sometime this summer we'll all make the voyage up to our 100 acre lot airsoft paradise where we could give some night scenarios a try. *sigh*, the place is so big though I just KNOW someone will get lost or abducted by UFO's. A few nights ago Ballista and I had a quick night game, and it didn't really go as well as I thought it would. Sure it sounds like a good idea at first, but once you're out there and can't even see the enemy it just becomes a game of waiting for something to move. Somehow though I managed to hit him once while he was trying to make a move to a better position and he shot me once when I tried to make an assault in his direction. P90 shot right into my middle finger, owie.

I have played both indoor and outdoor night games. As long as you have a relatively small playing field there won't be any problems. Yes, very fun. You have no clue who is shooting at you, you just hear bb's deflecting off of your cover. It is also very important that when you play outside that you make sure that you have some moonlight. If large trees are blocking all the light then your sight distance is severly limited. I have played 24 hour paintball games where people have had firefights with their own team mates.
Oh yeah, no cheating (ie Night vision). That means you Duncan!

I wouldn't call using night vision cheating.. thats like saying using a scope on your gun is cheating, or a pair of binoculars, or a tac light..

yeah, plus anyhoo, on how GOOD my night vision is , I don't think you have to worry. Also, you can find someone with night vision fairly easily sometime, just look for the glow green, shining on their eyes, or the faint red light from the illuminator. Jeez, if you have cheap night vision like me, its almost a handicap!
