In a desperate attempt to FINALLY take off my trademark putty, I resorted to plastic's arch enemey: SANDPAPER! Well at least the trademarks are gone, but the plastic is all scratched up in a few different places. Anyone have any ideas other than painting? Thanks.
EDIT- I plan on buying a new metal upper reciver soon maybe an SR-16 becuase of the black so this isnt that big of a deal to me.

Well, one possible way to fix it would be to get some ultra fine emery boards, padded ones preferably, and keep rubbing out the scratched areas.
In case you didn't know, emery boards are what women use to file their nails. You don't want to get the ones that file nails though, you want the emery boards that are for polishing the surface of the nail. The surface of the emery board is usually black on one side and gray on the other.
These are tools that I use for building models, they work pretty good and just might take care of your problem. If not, leave them...

So did mine, but it came off with a needle (minus thread). You should see some pictures of his XM, boy...that putty needed to be taken off.

none of our guns ever have putty, just tape. Look at it this way, at least you didn't get a dremel'd version! a guy came in to the shop the other day and showed us his $600 gun he bought from "brand x web retailer" and it had all the trades gouged out with a dremel, and I mean gouged, like the retailers 6 year old kid did it, after downing a 2 liter of Mt. Dew and a few dozen chocolate bars!! made me sick & angry, to think this guy paid that much AND got a "desecrated" gun..... actually the retailer he got it from is pretty well known, which kinda surprised me, cuz they don't advertise dremel'd trademarks!

Yeah.. That's why I'm becoming a fan of Peter Yee. He puts this black tape on which is insanely easy to remove (just pry off with fingernail, not even residue is left over), and paint that comes off with rubbing alchohol. ;D All retailers should do that. www.generationairsoft.com
