I was at a place called Killer Paintball a while back. They have a few UHC springers, a couple vastly overpriced STTI GBBs, green gas, and some silicone spray. I decided to buy three bottles of silicone spray, two for me and one for a friend. Well, I heard this stuff can melt hopup unit. This is the same stuff they sell on shorty usa. Here's a link to it: www.shortyusa.com/cart/viewitem.html?II=179&UID=2002060720164868.42.222.39&OldLoc=/cart/listcategory.html&RID=&NL=&CA=5Anyone use this stuff? Since I *think* it's made specifically for airsoft, I thought it would be alright. After reading some posts I dunno. Any thoughts? Thanks.

As long as it's 100% silicone it won't damage your gun. It sounds like whoever said it could "melt" the hop rubber was confused; if the stuff contained petroleum distillates then it could damage plastic/rubber, but if it's made for airsoft guns then it's unlikely it is damaging. If the bottle doesn't make any mention of its contents (maybe it does in another language ) then there's no way to be sure. If you don't want to risk using it, you can always check out hobby shops that sell RC cars. Most of the shock oil they sell is silicone oil, and it's pretty cheap for a dropper bottle of the stuff.

Yeah, it works pretty well (the stuff silentsting and i got), i had to shoot 100 rnds, but it's more accurate now than before lubing. It's pertty easy to find at most hobby shops. From what I've read (mostly in dumborat's posts), you should stick with the weight below about 20-25, if you have to get heavier oil though, it should still be fine, but get as light as you can.
