I might be playing paintball soon with my brothers friend and want to know if it would be safe to use the 6mm paintballs designed for airsoft guns in my AK.

I would highly advise you to NOT use 6mm or any paintballs in your AEG. The damaging potential they have to your AK is not worth the risk, save them for springers or electric blowback guns, not expensive 300 dollar AEGs.

From all I've read, the 6mm paintball are diesigned for springers or electric blowback (just like Viking said)! I wouldn't want to risk a big exspensive repair job on your AEG!

Note: I deleted the random off topic posts that had already popped up in this thread. Let's try to have at least one conversation around here where it doesn't turn into an off topic instant message type chat between a couple people! Anyway, back on topic, no you should not use paintballs in an AEG. I wouldn't even risk using them in any gun, unless you are ready to accept that they will possibly ruin the gun. I don't know if any of you guys have actually seen these paintball BBs in person, but I have and they are complete crap. First of all they only break about 50% of the time, and that was only when they hit a rock solid surface from <20 feet away. I doubt they would work well when used with paintball guns, since in paintball you're not out unless you're marked. Also, they are NOT 6mm, no matter what retailers might have you think. When I tried using them in a cheap springer about every second shot would jam in the barrel....now imagine if you were using them in a high quality AEG or gas gun where you'd most likely have already fired a few times before noticing a jam....ewwwwwwww.

Minky's right , they is not any QC in making them, I ran some thru a barrel piece to "weed out" the oversize ones and I'd say about 1/3 of them wouldn't even start into the barrel, and some of them dropped right thru, while others had to be pushed or blown out of the barrel.
plus if you were to push 50 or 60 of them into a mag, just the sheer pressure of the spring would undoubtebly break a few in the mag..........actually I have cleaned or repaired more magazines than I have AEG's from "6mm" paintball debri
Besides think about some paintballer, shooting a paintball right into your gun, down the barrel or otherwise, you'd have a Nasty mess , requiring taking the gun almost completely apart to clean all that nasty gooky paint off.......... (one of the reasons I got out of paintball)
DON'T DO IT!
