I'm not sure when the whole "forced redirect" thing started. I could handle pop ups because I use a program that shuts them down. I understand you are trying to pay for the boards, but force redirects are number 1 on my internet hate list. I refuse to visit any site that uses them. I might not have contributed much over the course of the 6 months or so that I have been comming here but.... Im done. I don't blame you for banning people for the annoying remarks. It seems to me that some Mods are just plain cranky and are going overboard on locking threads. The whole atmosphere of the boards is one big conflict. It's ok for established members/Mod to make a joke type post in a thread which adds zero value to the thread. Yet it's not alright for anyone else. Whats next?

I'll say you're right that the mood on here isn't the best, though I think you're being a bit unfair to the mods. They've given out plenty of warnings. They can only warn so much before people are simply walking all over them.
By the way, I just closed a pop-up and a warning came up that said 'Pop-Up killer detected! Turn it off or you'll get this message on every page you visit!' Anyone else gotten this thing?
And yes, I know this thread is better suited to the Off Topic forum.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "forced redirects".

I agree with you that too many threads are getting locked but the behavior on the boards recently has been pretty bad.

It's ok for established members/Mod to make a joke type post in a thread which adds zero value to the thread. Yet it's not alright for anyone else. Whats next? That's where you are mistaken. I don't think anyone here, mod or otherwise, minds an occasional off topic post in a thread or two. The problem we were having was that certain members were taking nearly EVERY thread on the boards off topic, and doing so with flames and profanity. That gets annoying fast, and they were warned. They chose to ignore the warnings. Boo-freaking-Hoo, let me cry for the loss of these two outstanding members. They're not gone for good either, only a temp ban to get the point across. As for the pop-ups and redirects, they're not here by choice. The boards are hosted for free by Proboards, and they put the ads here. If you don't like them, scroll to the bottom of any page here and click the Make A Donation button. People have done this in the past, and that was why we had no ads for a while. I guess our limited number of page views got used up, so now the ads are back. It's your choice if you want to leave over something as trivial as ads, and I don't think anyone will stop you. As for your comment about the boards being one big conflict.... I don't see how this thread is helping things. How is this thread anything but reason for more conflicts?

Sorry about the pop ups. Last month I paid the $6.99 to make the boards ad free all month but sadly my paypal/bank account has screwed me over so I won't be able to do that again this month.
Donations are welcome of course and with the new ad free setup Proboards have going it's really worth it.

Cool beans Jacko, thanks for the support.
The ads should be gone now, the reason some of you were still seeing ads+popups after Jacko donated the funds is because I had to apply the credit to this month for the ad free goodness to begin.
$6.99 gets us 50 000 ad free page views, which is more than enough for our forums and should last us another month again.
Once again, thank you good sir.

Hado, I have always had the ads..... annoying but tolerable, I thought the $6.99 only stopped the ads for the person who donated...... So is you pay, you are ad free, but I am not....... Is that not right?
