what is the difference between the RIS and RAS rails?

Just one letter, otherwise I don't believe there's a difference at all. One is Rail Adapter System and the other is (Wild guess here) Rail Interface System? It's just semantics and as long as it uses Weaver/Picatinny rails, you should be okay.

Blorfo, there are no stupid questions. Don't rag on Greekman just because he had a simple, and more importantly valid, question. What if there /was/ a difference and he couldn't find it online? Being able to ask a question and get an informative response is how we build a community.
