Hey. My bro got a VSR-10 and I took it upon myself to make a ghillie suit (guide to come). The suit is still in progress but in the meantime, I made a ghille gun sleeve to go over the vsr 10. I got some netting from the craft shop and also got some marpat, woodland, and desert fabric. I sewed the net into a sleeve and started throwing fabric strips on. It really wasn't much harder than that. Just tedious. Took about 4 hours. I used shoe laces (for reference, rawhide works better) to tie the sleeve to the gun barrel and around the scope. Check out the pics:

I don't like it, I dont think it will be very effective.
Or it will be extremely effective, one of the two.

I think it is a little over done. To much really.....
See, I like the way the BattleField 2 Rifle (I think the USMC's) is built. It's a desert camo, with a light ghillie wrap. Nothing to overbearing and nothing extravagant.

Yeaa, take half of that excess stuff off and you'll be set. I personally think ghillie suits should be more for the PERSON than the GUN, as the gun is harder to see than a man.
The gun should have ghillie material after you make your ghillie suit, but this is just my opinion.

Ok, i have a premade gun wrap, and it works most eddectively, says my team.
And yours is WAY to overdone... You should use 1/3 of all that material, and not soo long.... Snipers are meant to be on the ground, Now when you set that down, all the cloth is going to push up and block your scope, and make it useless... Sorry man, but i think you tried to hard.
P.S. why is your brother... or you, holding the gun all funny???

There really isn't as much material as you think. The when I made the sleeve out of netting, I made it too loose, not form fitting like I should have. I understand that it looks really overdone. I thought that myself when it was done but most of it is just the space between the gun and the sleeve, which I should try to reduce. I might go back and rip out the seams and make the sleeve tighter but it isn't a high priority.
Melson Ranger, I made the gun sleeve before finishing the suit because I can't work on the suit right now. The net is pinned to the blouse and needs to be more securely sewn before I will continue.
Swat, the way i designed the sleeve prevents the cloth to be pushed up into the scope. Everything adjacent to the scope is discretely tied down. I actually tried letting everything loose and fluffing some of the ghille up in front of the scope, trying to block it. Worst case scenario, it was a little foggy.
That's my bro holding the gun. He didn't want his arm in the way of the pic. Anyway, he's more than pleased. The sleeve should see some field time today. I'll let ya'll know how it goes. Thanks for the input.

It just hangs down a bit too much . The rifle looks nice, though.

Also, with the help of my bro, the ghillie suit has been finished. The guide, as well as pics are to come

I like the Sniper Rifle in BF 2: I may do mine like that, but it would involve camoing your gun out (desert). Which I may not want to do. I like the light camo wrap though. In my opinion, less is more.

The best thing i did with that was i just took a towel and taped it around my barrel and then spray painted the towel with some camo colors i got from an army store, then i did the same with the scope, i'll post some pictures l8er
