I spent some time tonight with my digital camera's self timer, a 500-watt halogen worklight, and some touchup work with Photoshop.
They're pictures of my SWAT impression, prepared in advance of the CQB leagues starting in January. I figured I should look the part, so I whipped out the credit card once again. Here's what I've got. Let me know what you think.
A profile pic to start it off. I'm wearing a navy blue jumpsuit by Big Mac Workwear (??), picked it up for $20 at a thrift store. Also featured in this view is my new Fobus paddle holster, keeping my custom KWA CZ75a in it's loving embrace. (It's custom because I replaced the stock straight grips on the pistol with a set of contoured Hogue grips. They feel great.)
The Fobus holster is pretty new, and needs to be broken in before the pistol will draw smoothly. Also, I need to learn how to draw [heh...]. I hit the timer button on this shot with the pistol in the holster, and couldn't get it out. Mere microseconds before the shutter released, I freed the CZ75 from it's holster and snapped into a firing pose. Just in time!
Here's another pistol action pose. I've slung my AKBeita to the left side, simulating some sort of situation that calls for a pistol. I'm a lefty shooter for long arms (which causes tons of problems), but I can shoot switch with pistols, as this and the previous picture demonstrate. Also highlighted in this picture are my gloves. As always, I sought to keep costs for this costume low, so these are Dunhams-on-sale paintball gloves. In another thread, xaos mentioned the need for knuckle-protecting gloves in CQB situations. So there you go.
Slap that pistol down, bring up the AK! Since my last gallery post, I've purchased a reflex red dot sight. It's better than that POS BSA tube sight I had been using. Dig that mag clamp, too! If nothing else, I really like the look of two AK mags clamped to each other (to say nothing of the increased ammo capacity). On the bottom right, you can see the top of my drop leg mag pouch. Edge-on, you can just barely make out the two spare STAR AK mags inside the pouch. There's a total of four in there.
A standard head-on shot displays my newest Airsoft acquisition: a Maruzen M1100 GBB semiautomatic shotgun, complete with shell catcher and buttstock shell holder. Highlighted as well in this shot is my Leapers tac-vest. Yeah, I know, most Leapers gear is junk, but my wallet cries out in terror whenever I browse for Airsoft stuff on the web. The screaming gets old after a while, so Blackhawk or better gear is out of the question. Secreted inside the vest are two more AK mags, a spare CZ75 mag, flashlight, two ghetto M&M's Minis BB holders, a pump BB-loader, and my tiny Mauser pistol. On the outside are four convenient shotshell loops.
Oh, shit! Enemy targets to the left! Cue the "badass-shotgun-pose", stat! I took the shell catcher off for this pic, observe the solid metal bolt and charging handle.
A homemade sling completes my shotgun. Doesn't need to be too long. The remaining uniform parts are a $3.99 acrylic balaclava, black pistol belt, dark tinted goggles, and replica MICH helmet. Not shown in any of these pictures, due to the laziness of the photographer, are my black kneepads and boots. Damn, I look a whole lot like Cobra Commander in this pic!
[enkidu shoves the cameraman out of the way.]
All right, that's enough! No more picures!!
[Err, I mean enkidu shoves the pile of boxes propping up the digicam]
