Nope, no angle screwdriver. I guess I'll use an exacto knife to cut throught the glue from the backside of the receiver. It's either that or drill through the fake selector.
Any other thoughts?

Goto the hardware store and buy a $2 screw driver that will work.

I just bought a HuricanE metal body (Colt) for my M4. Its AWESOME now that i have it on! took me 7 hours not bad for my first time striping it for the first time with no help or instructions. I had to take it apart 4 times because I kept forgeting things.

None at all, but I don't know if that's because of the HurricanE body or my Guarder reinforced outer barrel, though I imagine it's a combination of both.
Hey, you global mods, think we could get this stickied? Lotsa good info in here.

Reassembling the gun with a hurricane metal body:
I haven't done this yet, but here is my plan based on things I've read.
1) Completely reassemble the upper receiver (put the bolt handle in, reattached the outer barrel, put the inner barrel back in with the new hop-up unit) 2) Slide the Mech box into the upper receiver from the stock end. You won't be moving the mech box UP into the receiver from the bottom, but sliding into it from the back. 3) Ensure that everything you need to do on the lower receiver is done (ie put on the firing selector switch, put on the dummy bolt release button - on the left side of the gun above the magwell, attach/glue the dummy fire selector on the right side of the gun) Then slide the mech box into the lower receiver while minding your wires and the trigger. 4) put in the two receiver pins 5) put in the mag release mechanism and the pin that goes near the fire selector (these two items help position and retain the mech box)
The first message in this thread by Jacko is VERY helpful for assembly details, give it a read. The big difference is instead of putting the mechbox into the lower receiver and slide the upper onto it, you are going to put the mechbox in the upper reciever and slide the lower onto it.

It looks like you've got the right plan on putting this thing back together, Mite. Putting together a HurricanE body is like flying a helicopter; An extra arm would be very useful, but it's manageable.

Crap, Kaz, I wish I had known you were working on it. I'd gladly have helped you out with it. And you wouldn't have had to pay outrageous shipping and/or labor costs.

i'm amazed people can't tell the difference between a poll and a post... they are different.

HurricanE metal body installation on an SR-16 completed!
It came out very nice. The only sticky point I had was getting the front receiver pin all the way in. I got it eventually, but I damaged the threads for the screw that goes into the pin when I was tapping it out one time. No worries, the screw could still be threaded in, I just completely messed up the threads on the screw which probably has now screwed up the deeper threads on the pin. No biggie, easy part (a front receiver pin w/ screw retension) to replace if I ever need to.
No modifications/filing/sanding/grinding of any kind were required on the upper and lower receiver to achieve complete assembly.
My impression: AMAZING
The gun feels very solid. I still have the stock outer barrel, but no signs of barrel wobble right now (let me get some game time in on it).
The charging handle, bolt cover, fake bolt all fit in the body and work great. The gun seems to be shooting fine (I still have to dial the hop-up in a bit more).
Overall, I give the HurricanE very high marks. A couple things that I think they could improve that shouldn't cost much.
1) Include a damn hop-up nubbin. I mean come on, the kit includes every other part for the hop-up except for that one vital tiny little piece.
2) Some kind of instructions with a couple pictures would be a nice. Obviously I got through the project without any instructions, but that was mainly because I did some reading online before I got started.
3) My fire selector switch is very "free" to move. Its almost like the TM plastic lower receiver was thicker than the aluminum in that area. After playing around with it for a bit I decided it was just too loose. I snugged it up by forcing some teflon plumbing tape between the selector switch and the body. This has increased the resistance to switch movement nicely and now I am not worried about the gun changing firing modes while I am running around with it.
Those are pretty minor nits. If anyone is looking for a metal body for an M4/M16 I would certainly recommend the HurricanE series. I consider it well worth the price.

What is a good metal body from "Airsoft Extream" for a TM M4A1? I want to order a metal body from them but Im not sure which one would be ideal. I want nice trades and a solid fit and easy swap. I will be doing the change over myself, unless I get stuck then Ill go see bill. he he he.
