A stock PSG1 with tight barrel is not even going to be close to competing with a 500 FPS bolt action. If you want the PSG1 to be usefull in a sniper role, you're gonna need to dump lots of cash into it. Aside from that, the PSG1 is a huge gun, which might be a pain in the ass to lug around all day. If you're falling into the typical "I wanna be a 1337 sniper" mindset of lots of new players, I suggest you talk to frostee. He's invested lots of time and money in his rifle, and can tell you all about being a sniper in airsoft. It's not the easy kills, glorious life that most people think it is. Aside from all that... do you think you're responsible enough to use a 500 FPS gun? No flame intended, just wondering.

yes i know i know everyone says that and it is true that its not just as easy look thru a scope and pull the trigger like in games for one thing in airsoft your not that far away so it probley isent to wise to shoot at someone with others around(with a bolt anyways) because once you do that you will get rained on with plastic and you will give away your position i justed wanted to try out doing it and playing the sniper role i already have a spotter (my friend tory) and just figured it would be fun to try out for a while to see if i liked it and if not sell it a get a m4a1 ;D and yes i can be responsible with a 500 fps gun im not like a 8 year old running around with matches and m80's i do have responsibility and have grown up in a hunting family so i do know all the firearm saftey and will treat it as a real gun and will NEVER shoot at head or other vital area's haha and i do have a back up gun so i wont be taking any shots closer than ~100'

hes the new Thureau oh my god, hes a literary genus. jk, yeah i recently bought an sr16 and turned it into a nice sniper rifle. my friend brandon has the classic army m24 and he is upgrading it to 500 fps. Im not sure if there is a tightbore barrell for it though but upgrades alone are going to cost 200 dollars just to make it shoot 500 fps. also. you will prolly want to look into a bipod and a NICE sidearm. Also a scope is highly useful and a ghillie suit would be nice. binoculars or some kind of yardage measuring thingy along with some really nice camo (unless you hav a ghillie suit). Also, long hours of creeping around your house and in the noisy woods observing just about al the sounds you make when walking . Its really not easy at all. and it can get boring (though laying in a ghillie suit undetected is enough for me:) i just like the fact that about 90 percent of everyone that walks by me isnt going to se me at all. any who back to the guns. Either way you go, sniper rifles are expensive NO MATTER WHAT WAY YOU GO. Whther its gas, electric, or spring, ANY SNIPER RIFLE IS EXPENSIVE. My sr16 has already cost me a fortune and i havent even upgraded it yet. You would eb lead to believe that a spring would be the way to go because they are usually cheaper (to start out with) but you will realizee that in order to shooot 500 fps, your bolt is going to be harder to pull back, thus the need for a gas cylinder$$$$$ along with the gas cylinder you can throw in a nice tightbore barrell. Semi auto is nice in case you feel uncomfortable with the "one shot one kill" thoery. If I were you, I really wouldnt worry about weight at all. When your a sniper, You are going to be in a still position MOST of the time. And i mean cmon, is everyone that weak to where they cant carry around a 10 pound gun? i look at it like this. If you want accuracy, power and durability, your gun is going to have to weigh more. I personally would not spend the outreagous amount of money on the PSG1 because it isnt very spectacular. its not very rare and its not signature to you. Plus it is REALLY BIG making it harder to conceal and to manuever. but its really up to you and your preferrence/. horray for me and my ghillie suit and my sr16

Must be the excitement, had to get it all out in one breath.
If you had the money to up a PSG-1, that would be pretty sweet. It might just be me, but I haven't seen to many fully upgraded PSG's.

angel fire sucks. too many pop ups (btw i was the 10,000,000 visitor to your site! heheehe) get a geocities account. The Sr16, im assuming you have a tightbore barrel in it, do you use the same TB barrel as you buy on wargamers w/ the vmatch kit or do you need a custom one?

any tightbore barrel made for an m4a1 will fit. i think the only reason wargamer or wherever sells one with the vmatch kit is to make more money off the kit. and from everyone ive talked to, they havent noticed a difference between the TN tightbarrels or the CHEAPER systema ones, which i have. For some reason though, systema chooses to be about half the price of the others. eh oh well. I have noticed a HUGE difference though between the stock barrel and the new one.

I have an M16 Vietnam Version that shoots 450fps. Its awesome. It shoots far and hard. I took out my brother from about eighty yards away when he was sprinting towards cover. Its awesome. The M16 is just a little shorter than the PSG and the PSG is electric also, which would mean in order to get lots of range and accuracy, you need an expensive upgrade. My upgrade on my VN cost me $225 and altogether the thing was $620. My brother is going to get a bolt action M24 in the near future, which has a gas upgrade and it shoots 500fps, too bad its gonna cost him $600. If I were you, go with a bolt action. They shoot far and accurate, and it feels cooler to pull the bolt back after each shot. Go with what you like best.

Is there any kind of performance advantage that comes with choosing a bolt action over and AEG?
He's right though, always go with what you like best, dont base your decisions solely on what other people tell you. It'll be your gun not theirs.
