hey guys, I live in Ann Arbor and I hope to play with you guys soon, I am only 14, but i know a decent amount about airsoft and the real steel. Anyways.... I was wondering if it is worth the $36 extra dollars (from where im getting it) to get the Steyr AUG military instead of the AK-47. I originally had my mind set on the AK, because it is a great gun, but now I see everyone has it, and I kinda want to be original, so I was wondering if the Stery AUG is just as good as it. I have already done research, but I wanted some airsoft players' opinions. (Neither one of the guns would be upgraded, just stock) Thanks for your help, hope to see you guys soon.

You really can't go wrong with either of those guns, as they are two of the most solid AEGs made. Both guns use the version 3 mechbox, so they're pretty even in regard to internals. The biggest factor to consider when buying anything airsoft related is to get what YOU want. All the stock Tokyo Marui AEGs are pretty similar when it comes down to leaving them stock, so get whatever gun you like the looks of most. Both guns look and feel great, so I'd suggest making a list of what you think the pros and cons of each weapon would be. I'm partial to the AUG of course, since I own one .

Minky speaks truth in his words here. The AK and Aug are most likely the two best AEGs TM makes out of the box. It all comes down to looks and what you like. The only thing Minky didn’t mention was how much better the AK looks then the Aug, specially my Ak. ;D

Aug military SUCKS compared with the civilian version, the built in sight stinks [Ed.-he has not looked through the sights on the AUG mil, though, and is basing this on things he has heard from other sources]. I'm suprised noone mentioned this so far...If it was me though, I would go with the SR-16 (since I own one).

Meh. Stoner Dude, you haven't held an AUG yet or looked through the AUG mil's sights, and I really think you shouldn't be telling people which one is bad.
Hadoken is very pleased with his AUG military. According to Hadoken, the scope is actually pretty good, useful, and is accurate of course. We'll all get to verify it this Saturday/Sunday at Op: Amishville...this is....if the event ever happens.
I edited your comment accordingly.

I used to hear the same thing over and over back before I got my AUG Mil. "Don't get a mil., the scope is shite!!" Eh, I really didn't care. The look of the AUG Military is what I was after anyway. The sexy green stock, the futuristic curves...mmmmm! After seeing the scope with my own eyes though I'm MORE than pleased. It's perfect for airsoft in my opinion. So yeah, get the AK. The Auggie Doggie be mine. MUHAHAHHAHA!

Why is the military AUG like $40-$50 more then civilian? It has a 2x scope (which costs like nothing to make) and a green paint job. Anything else? If I ever get around to buying an AUG, I would seriously consider spending the extra just cause I like the looks of the military version a bit better.. I just don't get why it's so much more expensive.

You answered your own question...it has the built in scope/carry handle. The SR version just has a weaver rail, which is obviously much cheaper to manufacture than a piece of optical equipment. I've read that the scope on the Mil. AUG is made by Tasco, so it's not some cheaply made junk.... well it probably is, but still, it's quality junk. ;D
