I'm looking into buying myself a AEG, I have always been about getting a MP5SD5 untill the release of the G36C . now I am torn, i dont know which one to get. So if anyone could give me some information about both or tell em which would be better performance and reliability wise. I would be thankful.

I personally HATE the g36 because it looks so rediculous, BUT it is more tacical than the sd series mp5. I would suggest a mp5 though but it all depends on you i guess/ later

Well, the MP5 series has lots of accessories for it, and it's very popular, which means people can help you out fine with problems you might encounter. The SD5 also has a large battery capacity, which is something the G36 doesn't have.
Performance wise, they'll work the same in stock form. Reliability of the G36C has yet to be seen, so I can't tell you about that.
Granted, I'm a huge G36 fan, and don't even own an MP5, but I'm trying to be partial. The G36 has two RIS rails built in for mounting sights/scopes/lasers and is aactually shorter than the SD5 by quite a bit when the stock is folded over. It comes with an EG1000 motor, instead of the SD5's smaller EG700 motor, which translates to more power.
For your first gun, I would probably go with the MP5. The availablity of second-party parts and upgrades is why.

TM They have a better track record of reliability and long term preformance. As a newbie, you're going to want to stick with a stock gun. I'm a little short on time to explain why, so just read this; www.airsoftohio.com/phpBB/newbie.php

Go with Tokyo Marui. ICS may have 'better' options, but also may not work the first time out of the box. This will be your only gun, so you want to go with reliability. Besides, heavy guns may be more realistic, but they're also just that. Heavy. And if you're not used to lugging something like that around all day, you'll hate it real fast.

I could really argue both ways on this one. First i had a stock Tokyo Marui AK47, then i got the all metal upgraded Classic army mp5, now im back to a TM(mainly cause CA doesnt make a sr16). I started to miss my ak after a while, BUT once you know how to upkeep your gun, you could be fine wiht anything. I liked not having to fork over cash to upgrade and get a metal body, but there are its cons as well/. The ICS i think are way better than CA. SUPPPOSEDLY and i had a friend with the same gun your thinking about, they are upgraded and have metal bodies, very reliable and shoot really hard, they are quiet and light, ANY mp5 is light, TM's feel like toys. With my battery, and a little weight in the front, my mp5 weighs the same as the real steel, and dont worry about wieght, thats what a sling is for, so if youre worried about a heavy mp5, you are prolly going to be hurting from the recoil on an aeg. ;D I would maybe reccommend a TM for a first gun, but then again you will "run with the dogs" right from the start. ICS mp5s are REALLY EASY to take apart too, 2 pins and youre set, TM's are a well.......you could guess, and taking a metal body apart is much more reassurring than a plastic. I would go ICS, now decide for urself before i change my mind!

my g36c is very sturdy. The majoity of it has a type of metal inner shell thing on the inside, and also has a lot of accesories for it becaue of the rails. It also has a higher upgraded motor, and shoots a little faster. The mag also holds mak up to 470, while the mp5 series max is 240. I like the mp5 but the g36c are so much cooler and better.
