I'm new to airsoft. I'd like to buy an AEG. There are several really great looking models. I'm just not sure which to get. Listed below are what I'm interested in. Any feedback is appreciated!
TM Steyr AUG TM M4A1 TM MP5 RAS TM H&K G36c
Any place I should order from in particular? Also, I understand why the guns are marked with bright orange, but is this easily removable? Can I buy new flash suppressors and replace the ugly orange ones? Thanks for all your help!

First, read this; www.airsoftohio.com/phpBB/newbie.phpThen head over to any larger forum (www.airsoftohio.com www.airsoftplayers.com and http://www.airsoftzone.com) and research all of the guns specifically. Find as many opinions on them as possible. Make sure you utilize the search function on each forum. You can find any and all information regarding each gun that way. Then go to your favorite internet search engine (i like yahoo, but whatever works for you) and search for; "gun name" "airsoft" "review" and you'll find dozens of reviews on smaller sites. pay particular attention to reviews by independent hobbyist/enthusiasts, not retailers. That way, you get a ton of unbiased opinions on each gun, so you can compare different people's opinions on it. Then judge for yourself if the gun sounds like it will fit your needs. Just be warry of any retailer reviews. By using a retailer's review as your primary source of information you violate the conflict of interests. They have something to gain by telling you that a gun is good, so they might not point out some small flaws, and they might exagerate the performance a bit (redwolf is known for this one). After you've decided what gun you want, go over to www.airsoftplayers.com and read through their retailer rating section. Most airsoft retailers around the world are listed there, and their customers have said their peice about them. Most people in michigan would agree that www.wolverinetactical.com is one of the best places to buy from. www.airsofttoys.com and www.mdairsoft.com are also both great places. A little note about mdairsoft. It may look like they don't have a lot of stock, but they can get anything that's on wargamer's site ( www3.wargameclub.com/WGC_Shop/ ). They only list what they have in stock, and special order everything else that you want. You'll have to shoot him an email abot getting something that's not on his site. It'll take a little bit longer to get, but it's also the cheapest place in the country.

Yes, you can replace the stock flashhiders. It is legally required to have them orange when imported but after they get in the US (regardless of what others say) it is totally legal to have the orange taken off.
I have taken the orange off on some guns when they need to look good but have left the orange on for others when I don't want some aquaintance I'm showing my Airsoft guns to getting scared. Whatever you feel most comfortable with and what your Airsoft group determines safest will probably determine what you do about the orange.

after they get in the US (regardless of what others say) it is totally legal to have the orange taken off. I wouldn't go so far as to say totally. Depending on where you live, your city or town might have some local ordnance requiring toy/replica/BB guns to have some type of marking to distinguish them from real guns. There might also be an ordnance restricting use of the guns within city limits, which means technically you couldn't even plink at your house. I believe there is at least one town in Ohio where this is true. I'm not trying to scare you off or anything, so don't worry. I'd say just contact your local PD and make sure of what your particular laws state. They probably won't know what airsoft is, so I'd ask about laws on BB guns and paintball guns, since airsoft falls kind of in between those. Now, with that out of the way.... Welcome! In my (biased) opinion, the obvious choice would be the Steyr AUG, since it's such a sexy rifle. Those guns you listed would all appear to be good choices though, with the things to consider being overall size, inner barrel length, battery space, weight, etc. Most importantly, get whatever gun you like the most! If you've always wanted a particular gun, you probably won't be happy with something else. Anyway, as jdl said, plenty of research is the best idea, and making it out to a game might be good too. That way, you will be able to get some hands on time with (if you're lucky) all of those guns. Good luck!

I'm having a problem clarifying things lately. I've been late to work and friend's houses and my parents didn't know they had to pick me up after an Airsoft game. To clarify: according to federal laws. I hope that's better.
