A-Halo - I can think of lots of reasons to spend so much on a high quality sight for an airsoft gun. 1) Anything that improves accurate target acquisition speed is a good thing! Knowing that the BB's go where the little red cross hair is, regarless of your head position or if you are shooting from your weak side is a real comfort. That is what only these high end pieces provide. 2) Buy one sight like this and you are done. You can only use one gun at a time, so you just move it to whatever gun will be your primary for the day. It is built for real service so it should last and last compared to your airsoft guns. So if you "defer" the cost of the sight over all the other AEG related purchases you may make over the entire time you are involved in airsoft, it will begin to look like a good deal! And at the end of it all I am willing to bet it will still have considerable resale value. 3) Any sight that improves your situational awareness is a worth while investment. Being able to keep both eyes open (which of course can also be done with a cheap red dot sight) is a great thing when the s**t is hitting the fan around you. Mite the thing is though, a plastic bb only goes so far and is only accurate at fairly close ranges ex. 100ft or so. no parallax may be a plus but thats the only benefit i see when using an expensive red dot on your airsoft gun. like i said its your money and spend it how you wish. i know i cant change your mind but im trying to make a point.

I think no parallax is a pretty big plus....
What's the point in a sight that doesn't show you where the BB's are going to go?

Move the site from gun to gun? That's crazy talk! If the two guns don't chrono the same and have the same hop-up setting, your zero will be off.
Plus also, this is the gear thread. All gear purchases become excuses to buy more gear in their turn. It is the way of things.

Zorak -
Didn't figure redoing the zero would be all the bad. Since I have never done it obviously I could be completely wrong (and I probably am).
I was making assumptions that setting the zero on a gun that shoots 200' max wouldn't be to rough.
As for gear begetting more gear, can't argue with that!

The difficulty in setting the zero really depends. Most of the time it isn't really that hard, but it does take some time, and sometimes people get sick of waiting for you. It also really requires a windless day.
I'm still wrestling with the idea of reusing the Aimpoints I had on my paintball guns. I had an old 3000, a Comp, and a Comp M2 that I'll probably never use on those guns again. Every time I think of taking them off the guns, the voices in my head remind me to never say never.

Nobody ever asked, and I've never thought it was especially cool to just show up and say, "look at my stuff!"

www.chatarea.com/airsoftcleveland.m2299532It appears that the Navel Warfare Surface Center (NSW) has placed a contract for 66,666 EOTech sites. Good to know some folks will be getting such a high grade piece of gear to do their jobs with! I like to see my tax dollars at work on things like this; supporting a US company and the US Troops. I don't know the Bushnell line, but the main differences between different current EOTech models are battery (N vs AA) and night-vision compatability.

it looks like the only difference is 10 hrs on the battery, and perhaps night vision.
