new magpuls arrived today from lightfighter, got the 7-pak for $19.95 for 7.62 (g-3) mags and they work as advertised! made of heavy rubber and slip over the bottom end and provide a loop large enough to get a hold of ,even with gloves. the big difference other than cost, between the hard plastic one ($$) that replace the base plate of the mag is that the loop will fold over and you can close a covered mag pouch where a hard plastic one does'nt give much and will use all or most of the cover flap adjustment of the mag pouch and may actually be too tall for some pouches. overall the ol' rogue rates them at about 9.0 for usefullness and cost effectiviness!! hooo-ahhhhhh!! note : they come in 3 sizes, 7.62(G-3), 5.56(M-16) and sub-gun(MP-5) for the same price.

Rogue: How difficult is manipulating the hi-cap wheels with them installed?

xaos, the wheel is quite accessable on the hi caps! there is a neat manual that comes along with them on installation and shows some good tips on several styles of reloading techniques and compatability with different brand pouches.see the website www.magpul.com also worth mentioning , they act as a buffer when several mags are in the same pouch together, the rubber part that wraps around the mag eliminates rattling!!

Doh, I have nothing else to say...didn't realize until just now you were talking about the old-style magpuls Thought you were talking about a different version of the nifty looking new design, heh.

darn! thought they were something new! just recently added to the lightfighter inventory so i thought they just came out? gotta remember that i'm still kind of a nuub around here but the fact is , they do seem to work and the cost is reasonable.and i'm a firm believer in marcinko's KISS principle! just finished putting them on all my G-3 mags and had 2 left so i put them on two of my G-36 mags(7.62 size) and i bet i send an order tomorrow for enough to equip my MP-5 mags too!

ok! thanks jacko! i see now that the previous reference to old style was the magpull brand and not the para-cord/duct tape style! i still like them and the price and thought it was worth mentioning! ;D

They are definatly nice when it comes to multiple mags from what I've heard. Though I think it was stated above that the new design really superceeds the old one in the fact that you don't loose capacity in pouches. Though really I don't know how much of an issue it will be as I'm still running an OMEGA with single mag pouches;)

No problemo, Rogue. I was getting a little confused and I figured I wasn't the only one. I'm still using 550/100mph pulls myself, so I appreciate you posting about this.
