How do you tell if something is a weaver rail, or a dovetail? the thing im looking at is a scope mount thing for the glock.. at the top the rail is a long rectangle and there are bars that indent it perpindictullarly along it.. god dam i suck at explaining.. -----------_____-----------_____------------______------------______ thats what it looks like horizontally. I think its weaver?... if it is, cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3606277695&category=31716 that would work right? thanks

measure it, 20mm is weaver/piccatiny. Dovetail is smaller (I don't know the measurement though). So, if the rail is 20mm wide, it's weaver, if it's substantially narrower (more than a couple mm), than it's dovetail

right. I do believe that most, if not all weaver/piccatiny rails have those scallops taken out. They allow the screw of the apparatus to pass by and not get hung up on the rail. This then provieds a nice low profile mount, better for most uses.

Just for future reference (For everyone), Dovetail rails are 3/8th in., which would would be about 5mm. Very narrow.

scallops?
so you would measure it by the rails width, which mean the short side would be what your measuring.. just to make sure your not talking about measuring the parts where it goes like ---_____----
