between what? The older and newer version?
The only difference is the material. Old=nylon New=Cordura. Old=good New=better.

I don't think they make a pistol holster for the vest but you can buy other pouches for it at several HK retailers and even some US ones (can't remember which ones though, woops). SOE pouches might work (top two ones anyway), but since I haven't tried myself I don't really know for sure. www.soegear.com

While on the topic of vests, has anyone heard about the Blackhawk Omega Cross Draw/Pistol Mag? If you have, what are the pros and cons of this vest? It can be seen here at: www.blackhawkindustries.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=1927&d=1Any input would be great. Oh, and Hadoken and Andy, sorry to interupt your Gaurder SOG CQB vest conversation, i just didn't feel it necessary to start a whole new thread so i could get one post back or something like that, sorry)

The Blackhawk vests are one of the most popular vest out there. They can hold M16,MP5,G3,and the mighty AK mags. The cross draw takes place of 2 mag poushes. That leaves you with 2 mag poushes witch can still hold up to.........correct me if I'm wrong but hold 4 mags(not inculdng the 2 or 3 pistol mag pouches).

Not a problem. Arnies Airsoft has a review of the BH Crossdraw vest which can be seen hereViking (forum member) once owned the same exact vest and from what I can remember he really liked it. I too at one point planned to buy one cept without the crossdraw holster as I already have a perfectly fine thigh holster I've grown quite attached to. There should be a post by Viking here in the Gear portion of the message board about his vest, I just can't seem to find it now.

I have, truely a great vest. It's one of those things that as soon as you touch i, you know it's worth the money. This isn't going to break, tear, etc., and if it does, it comes with a live time warranty.
The holster takes the place of what would be 3 mag pouches on the left side, but there are another three on the right. They hold two m16 mags apiece, but i have an mp5. i can fit 3 mags apiece, so i can pack 9 mags, and i like hicaps ;D.
There are 4 pistol mag pouches, plus one in the gun (although as mentioned on arnies, there is a problem with keeping a mag in the gun if you're using a glock. there is a little bumb where the seems come together on the inside of the holster. that bumb happens to be right there on top of the mag release. i now have a glock 19 mag somewhere out there in "Agent Orange Needed Woods", a.k.a. Newman's field.).
Other than that slight problem, i love this vest. nothing pops out randomly, all of the pockets stay shut, and it looks pretty damned cool. I got some compliments when i wore it to school for camo day during homecoming week. Had to check with administators that the holster wasn't too close to gun appearil, though.

Andy, you can get the omega cross draw in stanfard woodland camo, but from what i've heard, the pattern and color is off from what it should be. I've never seen it though, this is just what i hear. head over to www.arniesairsoft.co.uk and look for his review of it. he mentions the camo pattern in that review. Why don't you email the retailer to see if you can get the new model of the Guarder SOG CQB. They'll know, not us. anything we tell you would be a guess, and nothing more.

To be more helpful than my pal Bigmack ( ): It's more of a decision that you have to make, Andy, than us. Nobody owns both vests on MiA (to my knowledge). Hadoken loves his SOG CQB, and pretty much everyone I've met loves their Blackhawk Crossdraws. I don't like the crossdraws at all (I've worn them), but I haven't worn an SOG CQB, so I can't really comment on that. I think you should try one on before you buy. That way, you won't end up like some unnamed guys in FLAG who purchased the crossdraw and it doesn't fit very well. I'm 6'-6'1", and the belt "holders" on the bottom of the crossdraw were at my crouch. I'm not sure why they were like that, but wow, it was weird. Also, I am pretty skinny (not as bad as a year ago) and the crossdraw flopped around when I wore it. Yeah, those were my "cons", but the pros outnumber them. Great capacity for equipment, easy access to mags, extremely good build quality, lifetime warranty, etc. I'd suggest you keep reading reviews and stop asking us, no offense.
