...if a peson was found with an airsoft gun w/o an orange tip. the result: (if it was gas powered) would be a charge with possesion of a handgun There are few reasons to ever be "found" with an airsoft gun, because we all should be playing on private property that is safe right? However, occasionally, that is not the case And to this point, there is no Airsoft pistol I know of that even when shot point blank, could severely injure or harm, much less kill anyone. And at most would cause a bloody welt

Fail to see how an airsoft gun is 'high powered'...especially a pistol. anything over 400fps is considered "high powerd" i havn't seen any airsoft guns pump out that much stock, just the modified guns..so we are safe

is an orange tip REQUIRED for transport of an airsoft gun? obviously a good idea to have it but is one required by law?

It's been said, time and time again, that an orange tip is only needed for *shipping*. Other than that, it's not necessary.

Shipping/Selling and if it breaks....you can't return it without the tip and if a cop see's it in public....its a nice posession of a handgun charge I sell airsoft and have been in close contact with the police about the issues

If a cop sees it in public, you deserve to be beaten about the head with a heavy blunt object.

the head? why stop there? the torso and limbs are always fun too
But WHY would you need an airsoft gun in public, you don't see me carrying around my real steel in public (or airsoft either), there's no logical reason unless you want to get shot. They invented gun cases for a reason, use them (they're about $10 at Wal-mart). no airsoft replica should be visible to the public, it should be in a case when not in use. How many times does it need to be said TREAT IT LIKE A REAL FIREARM!!

As to orange tips go to www.funsupply.com/aslaws.html it spells it all out right there. Under federal law you must have a Blaze orange tip attached to all toy, replica, and AIRSOFT guns.

I think I'll go with what the local city, county, and state police have told me, and continue to believe that an orange tip is completely unnecessary, save when shipping.
Thanks for the info though.
