First post here, I know, I'm the new guy. Anyways, I've been plinking around with springer pistols in my backyard/basement for a little more then a year now, and I'm now ready to get serious about airsoft. I've allready got my mind made up on a gun, but an odd question came to my mind recently. What do you guys do to identify teams? Do you wear plastic colored ribbons tied around your arms/mask strap (like in paintball) or do you have no team colors and just shoot at whoever is not with you?

it really depends on who you're playing with and where you're playing. Sometimes teams are distinguished by different types of camo (i.e. woodland and flecktarn), other times they use arm bands, sometimes they distinguish by weapons, and sometimes they just don't do anything about it and accept friendly fire as part of war.
Like I said, it all depends on who you're playing with.

Know who's on your team and work on instant recognition. Then, shoot anyone who you don't think is on your team. Or, alternatively, just shoot anyone who's not with your particular squad of guys out in the field...just to be sure

Yeah, really, xaos. If everyone else is dead, you have to be winning!

Usualy if they are shooting in the same general direction you are, they are friendly, or you are behind the enemy MLR (Main line of resistence) or vice versa.
Alternativly you could just yell out "Are you on my team?" If they say No, shoot em, if they say yes, they are probebly lieing, so shoot em. I have nothing else to say

Like Destructo said shoot first then say oops (if the guy is mean and has a much better gun you might also want to run ).

run away?... 2 words not in my vocab... however...
.. when in doubt... "Jacko, cover fire!" *remembers wolverine fury* hehe
Anyways on this topic, lots of teams generally play with camo, and you have to learn your team... at a lot of events people use bands... it's widely varying.

For future OPs someone could get some black arm bands and print like MP or something on them... then the other team wouldnt have any... i dunno just a thought

Well, we found OD green MP cuffs. I wonder if you could find brown ones, since black is just about the worst color to wear outside.

just why is black BAD? ? unless in winter?? heheh -CP How much true black do you see in nature, save in animals? The correct answer would be just about zero. Black sticks out much more than say, OD green, khaki, or brown...hell, even the red in alpenflage blends into foliage better than a black vest over woodland camo does.
