Well, I'm new to the game. I still havent got a gun or anything and was wondering what this is all about. I mean I see all the teams and all. Do you need a team or what?
And then all the pictures of people in the gear and stuff.
How should I start off? Such as for a gun and such. Then should I try to find a team or make one myself?
Jeff
Edit: By the way, does anyone live in or near Dearborn Heights?

Well, first off, WELCOME!
To start off, I suggest you purchase a gun, goggles (proper ANSI Z87.1 rated), and anything else you can afford.
Starting out, you will easily need $400 for a good gun and everything needed to play.
Team play is not required. Playing with friends or joining a team (to skirmish, not fully join) are both OK.
To start your own team, you should probably have half a dozen well equipped friends band together.
I myself live in Shelby Twp. Not horribly far, but not right next door.
Now onto the gun you should buy. This all depends on your cash levels and who you will be mostly playing with. If you have several hundred dollars at your disposal, any Tokyo Marui AEG (running $200-350) will suit you fine. Whatever catches your eye or looks the best will probably suit you best. You will also need a battery and charger.
If you only have $100-200 and do not want to wait and buy and AEG, you can either buy a gas pistol (of which there are MANY choices) or a Tokyo Marui spring powered shotgun. The TM shotguns are very good and will easily combat AEGs in power and distance (stock AEGs)
If you have even less money and you absolutely cannot save more money and need a gun now, then a spring powered pistol or rifle is for you. Once again, choosing one of dozens mainly depends on looks and available cash.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Do differnt styles have different advantages?
And how do you get into a team here? Prove your worth?
And how do you play? I was looking at these sceniros and was like "wow"

Styles of what? Styles of games? Well, Close Quarters Battle (CQB) offers fast-paced room-clearing scenarios stressing high rate of fire and good SWAT style squad tactics. some outdoor games get kinda drawn out when only a few stragglers remain, so staying in groups is kinda good, and you can provide covering fire and such.
one of the biggest things in games is squad-based cooperation mimicing the way the big boys of the US Military and SWAT do it.
as far as joining a team... ask. the bigger teams like Geist Kompany have monthly dues and require you to have an AEG and be 18. but some smaller teams might just let you join and have you play with them.
as far as how to play... its all military based. the scenarios can get elaborate at times... best bet for a new guy is to just stick in a squad and try not to die.
all you have to do is pay for registration, follow the rules and not be an ass to play at bigger games.

and if u mean different styles as in types of guns, yes different styles can have their advantages. Longer barreled guns allow for more accuracy and possibly more distance. This may not matter if you like to play CQB style games where longer guns would be harder to use in smaller spaces. im not goona go to deep in this but if you have any questions about guns look for them in the site search or just ask and there is many people who will be gald to help.

DumboRAT from Airsoft Players wrote a good Newbie guide. Here's the link. www.airsoftplayers.com/newbie/faq.asp That should help you out. Sorry if it's a little long, that's how most things he writes are.

Ghetto sniper, That's the FAQ that I have posted here. It's acctually his much more recently revised edition. All of the links and information are updated, and he added a few more sections.
The one that I posted here will be much more helpful than that one. That one is quite outdated by comparison.

You get to brag about banning more members than anybody else; I get to brag about bringing MiA the Newbie FAQ.
I really should go by Knief here, it's a better name.
