It was a dark night at the SFOD field, and the 7 of us who were still there decided to play a night game.
We decided on an attack, defend at the city scenario. The teams were...
'Gunman, Ace, and Sniper Wolf, and I...
VS.
Ehlers, Grey Fox, and War Pig
We let the 3 of them go take positions in the village, and headed off after them in about 5-7 minutes time. We gathered in the trenches on the Normandy Hill part of the field, and the plan was to split into 2 teams. Ace and Wolf would hit the city from one side while Gunman and I attacked the side near D-Day field. We crept up close and waited for Wolf and Ace to get to their side of the city (approx. 5-6mins). Then we opened fire on where we heard shots coming from the city, and where Fox was screaming "Get some!!!".
We waited a while and Gunman got this idea to crawl over about 25-30yds for a better shot. I waited a while and started moving in towards the city, heard a lot of gunfire and some calls of "hit".
Not sure of the status of my team-mates, or of the location of the opfor, I slowly and cautiously moved along the swamp bordering the city. I saw no one, so I tested the waters. I hustled to a little hut, checked my angles, and listened. I hustled to the next hut, rinse and repeat.
I was then in sight of my goal, the two story "embassy" near the village center. I went in and cleared the first floor without finding anyone. What I didn't know was that Gunman, Ace, and Wolf had been hit or just changed teams for the hell of it, and that someone else had joined there team upon his arrival.
I snuck upstairs and cleared the left room first. Nothing and no-one. I went across the hall and peeked through the sheet hanging there, saw no opfor, but something was over near a window. Upon inspection, I discovered that it was SFOD's team machine gun, a VFC shorty M60. I leaned my M16 in the corner and scooped up the sixty.
What followed was about 15 minutes of listening to chatting, people tromping through the woods, and some random calls of "We gonna get you, boy!","Show yourself!", or "Camper!". Then came the call from Fox, "Relish, you have 2 minutes to come out and fight." I replied, "Well come get me, I took your city! There ain't anybody here but me!"
Then the 7 opfor came down the hill throught the black of night, and I started to pour it out. They exploited a blindspot to my left, snuck around back and began to creep up the stairs. I heard some boots on the stairs during a break in my firing. Then one showed up behind the curtain. We exchanged fire and resolved a truce to prevent the blood bath that would have occured on that staircase.
Afterwards, I reflected on what had happened. I have never been a sneaky-creepy player, but I managed to take a noisy (well on my end it was noisy, and it made me worry often) into the city, sneak past the enemy in front of the village, and acquire a vastly superior weapon for position defense. Unfortunately, I failed to slay the opfor as it was very dark, and the adrenaline from creeping all through the bushes into the city was making my eyes bug-out on me.
