Viking guided his element threw the thin frost bitten woods, scanning the surroundings for sudden movements. A sudden move, a shadow, gravel rolling down the hill… anything, he knew his element was going to be ambushed, but where? The dry weathered leaves on the ground made sound detection almost impossible to a degree. Checking the obvious forms of terrain for possible enemy installments was easily done; the winter had stripped the shrubs and leaves that normally occupy the area in warmer months.
His element neared the end of the woods from which a dry open grass plain could be seen, they where still a good 100 yards from the field. Viking gave the silent command for his element to stop and take cover. Bigmack, his right flank cover was a large man whom supported the element with the heavy fire power of his converted G3, Viking knew that when the shit hit the fan he could rely on Bigmack to keep the hostiles heads down and to allow Viking’s flankers to maneuver. On his left was Robo, a specialist at close quarters handgun combat. Armed with his powerful Sig550 Viking stood confident that even if he went down he could rely on these two to finish the job without losing anymore of the element. Something didn’t seem right; his senses indicated he was being watched.
Out of the corner of his eye Viking saw the deadly glimpse of a flash created from a sniper’s scope lens reflecting as it moved to train on its prey.
“CONTACT RIGHT” shouted Viking as he distinctly started to spray the area with 6mms bbs of death with his Mp5A4.
“CONTACT RIGHT” repeated each member of his element only to be interrupted by Viking, “Contact Forward!” screamed out Viking automatically; spotting a dark figure running threw the grass field then disappearing. The plat sounds of his elements rifles going off sounded like pop corn popping in the microwave, not a consistent plat plat plat, but a heavy random combination of plats, like the sound of a monsoon in Arizona as it begins to rain lightly then increasing heavily over a brief amount of time.
As Viking’s fire team continued to put heavy fire on both locations Viking paused and turned to his rear to and issued orders to his flankers, his scouts. Upon receiving the order to climb the hill and flank to the snipers rear Hadoken and Newman quickly began. Hadoken was a master of the indirect approach, Viking could always count on him to make his way to the enemy’s blind side and fire just enough shots to take them all down. Newman was a specialist at the blitzkrieg type of assault. Fast and ferocious with unsurpassed accuracy Newman was able to hit and eliminate tangos before they even knew what hit him. Together they rushed up the hill and swiftly moved around behind the tango sniper and eliminated him.
With silent hand signals Viking ordered his scouts to move parallel to his unit as they approached the grass field. Taking cover in the wood and observing what seemed empty field Viking found his next obstacle. There was no doubt this is where the bulk of the enemy force would hit his unit, his team’s extraction point was only 100 yards out. He knew and finally accepted the fact that this was going to be hard, and some of his men would die, and possibly he may just find a 6mm bb of death as well. Viking then called his SEMTEX operatives up to his location to discuss the plan…
