This game was supposed to simulate the final shootout scene in "The Way of the Gun." (2000, Artisan Pictures)
This great game was captured on video and is available on the LKA website for downloading (named Way of the Gun shootout). This video is great and shows the real events of the game. Unlike other videos on the site, this one is hardly edited and portrays events in practicly real time.
Three snipers (with moded long rifles) try to shoot down six runners (with SMG's and pistols.) If the runners touch the wall that is directly under the snipers, they win. If the snipers eliminate all the runners, then the snipers win. The runners started in the far right corner and ended in the close left. This was a lot of ground to cover in a sniper scenario. This game was high paced and only one runner was alive in the end to win the game. And right before the game ended, he ran out of bb's.
If you watch the video, you see the two runners on the left behind boxes. When the snipers were firing at us runners, the heavy weight bb's were bouncing off the boxes behind us and hitting our backs when we were behind cover. The only time that we could run out of cover was when the snipers were reloading. Nearly every second ricochet sounds filled the room. I was eliminated when my 93R jammed and I was left out in the open to be hit many times from an AK.
A game like that you can only experiance, never completely tell. I'm sure that you can learn a thing or two from studdying that video.
I don't think that we could ever play a game like that again. It wouldn't be as fun and we could never find a location that was as sweet as the 12-Haggery Mecca.
