Wel first off...I just want to say sorry if theres a post on this already. I took Texas' advice in using the forum search..however most things came back as just people talking about the gun and recommending it as a good rifle. I need a little bit more or an indepth question.
Is there any difference between the Original and Sniper versions? The site I plan on buying from has both listed as same fps etc. SO I am assuming that the only difference is in the style of the the gun itself. Is this correct? because if so I may save myself some cash, and buy the original version as I would not have to purchase a scope right off the bat.
Thanks all, Infidel

and I just wanted to add. Where can I purchase Maruzen guns from. Redwolfairsoft is where I've been looking, but their shipping is crazy high. I only found this rifle at one other site which said it was discontinued.... any thoughts?

In case you weren't aware, shipping is always higher when items are purchased overseas, as opposed to US dealers, who charge lower shipping but higher prices (usually.)

The barrels on the OR version are longer than the SV version. The OR also has built in iron sights, where as the SV version comes with no sights.
Because of the longer inner barrel an upgraded OR version has the potential to reach a slightly higher fps when compared to similarly upgraded SV. Accuracy between the two will be indistinguishable, no matter the upgrades.

ok thanks, yeah I am really thinking about getting the OR because of the iron sights, and since I'm on a bit lower budget for the moment, it'll save me money from not getting a scope right away.
also, where should i buy from? I see the gun on redwolf and its 265 i think? or close to that...however, shipping's going to be a ton. anyone know of good places to buy from? I may stick with redwolf..but that's a lot for shipping.

But who wants a CA M24...? Hes already headed down the right path by getting a Maruzen.
Just don't get the CA drop in cylinder kit either for the Maruzen OV.

well due to my budget i will most likely be firing this baby standard for about a year. But that is totally fine with me. Because if it is a quality gun it'll be worth it in the long run. I'll just slowly put upgrades into it, because college is kinda a pressing issue at the moment and I can't drop 500 bucks at once...gotta go slow with it. But that's why I have no problem putting in for a $260 gun, because it will last me awhile before I should have to replace parts.
forgot to mention....you'll most likely start hearing from me when I do decide to start putting in upgrades. =P I'm sure I'll need some advice.
Thanks guys, Infidel

Thanks guys, Infidel Seriously, if this is gonna be your first gun, then get an AEG. Having a stock sniper rifle is a lesson in futility. If you really want to do the sniper thing, then grab something like a TM M14, then you can save for the parts to upgrade it to a true marksman's weapon. In the meantime, you get the benefit of enjoying a great full-auto capable weapon and getting the feel for playing. Of course, if it's not your first gun, then by all means, grab the APS and wait to upgrade it. When used properly, it's a wonderful weapon out there, and it just so happens that we have someone here who's extremely familiar with their workings and application (frostee).

I second Xaos' suggestion. You might find that sniping is not your thing, and you have already dumped a large sum into a rifle that you end up not really wanting. I have actually gone with the M14 route thet Xaos just suggested, and I couldnt be happier. I just dropped a full tuneup kit, torgue up motor, and an m130 spring in, and it does what I want it to do with pinpoint accuracy. I know I don't have the range of any "sniper" out there like the Maruzens, Upgraded VSR's and CA M24's, but I more than double the range of most AEG's and I still have the option to swap out the spring for something a little less powerful to adjust for the game or whatever role I feel like playing for that day. And, it was far cheaper, by at least a few hundred dollars, than going with the sniper setup form the get-go and dumping nearly a grand into a high powered rifle that has only one use: powerful long range shooting. That being said, a properly upgraded M14 is an incredible rifle. Very accurate, and very quiet, and still capable of pulling of several shots very fast wehn SHTF, which is the one huge advantage over a spring rifle for a marksman role.

Thanks guys, Yeah, its not my first gun. I have a UTG ak-47. Which I love the full auto don't get me wrong. But when just playing with my friends in some woods I constantly find i'm on semi and taking accurate shots, rather than just spraying with auto. I'm quite positive the bolt action sniper and the whole sniper role is the one for me. Thanks though for the input it helps.

Just FYI most people don't even begin to compare a UTG AK-47 with a TM. The FPS of it is not a lot below the average of a high quailty AEG but its enough to make quite a bit of difference. But if sniping is what you want to do and you have your mind set on it then all you really want to know is what are teh best parts to put in to make it do what you want.
