Ok, here is the skinny... I put a 150 spring in it (along with all other upgrades) and operated fine, nice fps (465 w/ .2's). I now have a 170 to drop in it, but when I cock the bolt it does not lock in the seer. Anyone know why?
I do know the 170 spring itself is about 2 inches long than the 150, is there too much spring compression?

i dont know for sure, but when i had that problem with my maruzen, one of the trigger pieces was actually locked into the release position and i had to pop it back into it's proper vertical position. you may have also broke your sear from so much tension

I had an issue with this when my APS2 was stock, what happened was that the spring which pushed the peice that catches and holds the piston had busted loose. If you can get some close up pictures of your trigger assembly I can most likely diagnose the problem from them. Or, or if you make it out to OP Verano this weekend, I can take a look at it there. I've unfortunately taken apart and reassembled the stock assembly at least 6 or 7 times, such a pain in the butt.
If money is not a problem, drop 170 or so on a Zero Trigger, never had a problem with mine, well worth the money!
Have you dropped in upgraded trigger parts? Any at all?

I found out what that problem was, the spring guide was backed out a bit from its base, tightened it up and good to go. but...
THe darn thing is only shooting 475 with hop up all the way down and 455 with it all the way up. That is a net gain of only 10 fps from the 150 spring. Doesnt make sense. I cleaned everything, regreased the o-rings... still not sure why it is not shooting so fast. I even cleaned the barrel and lubed the hop up, to not much effect.
It is shooting about 380 fps with .3's... I wonder if that is enough to make a difference.

what piston are you using? does it have the white-looking thing sticking out in front? try shortening it or cut it off all the way.

Please completely ignore what diver09 just said.
The little white looking thing sticking out is what your piston head attaches to. It is completely necessary for your gun to work properly. Without it, you get no air seal and minimal FPS.

I'm sorry. I didn't know the correct term was for it. what i meant for white thingy was the Air Brake. The air brake acts as a FPS limiter. keeping it on will lower your fps and range is what i'm basically saying. You will have the same fps with a 150 spring or a 170 spring. Do a search on this on Airsoft Forums and you will find what i'm saying is true

AirsoftForum is not a reliable source for valid information. If you are running a 170 you WILL need all new trigger sears, because the stock 1st sear cracks pretty easily with that much power. Its happend to me and I had to learn the hard way. This is the part im talking about. redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=18227

I'M NOT COMPLETELY SURE, butI think I am having the same problem with my VSR-10 G-Spec. I had UN Company do the 400fps upgrade when I bought it a year and a half ago, and I have never been to impressed with its performance. (Then again I only ever could get .25 BB's) I was just about to order .30 BB's (after seeing real snipers in action at Silent Dawn.) Yesterday I got it out of my closet, put 2 rounds threw it, and then she broke. I can pull the cocking lever back, but as soon as I barely touch it, or sometimes on its own volition, it will just slam forward with the full force of the firing spring, it appears. I am seeing mixed feelings on the rifle, and since it's mostly plastic, I have serious doubts about its upgradeability and dependability. I was hopeing to maybe get some advice. (Sorry to crash on your thread Greysquirrel ) I bought it originally just to have a cheap rifle, where I could get a little better range on my pals. After seeing some of the rifles at Silent Dawn (Tex, Mirage, Blindshot, Skypilot, etc...) I saw what real sniper rifles could do. The range and accuracy was amazing, to say the least. So now my delema is do I fix the G-spec and have a semi- "alright" "sniper", or do I scrap it, maybe fix it and sell it, and get a nice metal bolt action rifle and upgrade it. So... Not having the tech skills you guys have, and not daring to open it up... (Please forgive me if my problem is the same as Greysquirrel, but I'm not sure what most of the stuff you guys are even talking about is.) Does anybody (Tex) know what is probably wrong? Is is a cheap fix? Or should I junk it, and just get a real rifle when the money allows? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well... I think you are confused if you think my rifle is all metal, it most definitely is not. Only the upper receiver, internals and barrel are.
Your problem sounds like your spring guide stopper may have broken. Personally, I'd get all new sears and spring guide stopper, the reinforced type, that should work out well for your problem.
Those are the three you should look at buying. It won't be too expensive and will let you be able to use the rifle or sell it.

Thanks Tex. One more quick question... If I want a nice accurate rifle, with about 500-540fps, should I bother with the G-spec, or start with a different body? (My gut is telling me differnt body, but you are the tec guy...) Thanks a lot.

I think you should worry more about getting the money before thinking about what gun to get. Get 700 saved up at least before you start the bank account emptying hobby known as airsoft sniping.

I think you should worry more about getting the money before thinking about what gun to get. Get 700 saved up at least before you start the bank account emptying hobby known as airsoft sniping. Done. I know you are just trying to let a perceived newb know that I can't run down to a local store with my money from working in "grandpa's garden this summer" and get a nice rifle, and I appreciate that. I have been playing airsoft for over four years, and I know that I will have to sink some fairly serious dough into getting a rifle that shoots farther and more accurately than a garden hose. With that said, I far more than qualify for newb status when it comes to all the new companies that have surfaced into the US market in the last few years, and all the upgrades and the parts that pertain to them. All I wanted to know is if I needed to scrap the G-spec and start with a different base body, and I do have the money to do that. Forgive my over the top newbishness, but up until Silent Dawn I had only seen the G-spec and a TM PSG-1 (3 years ago) that my late friend sank like $1800, foolishly, for upgrades. (The gearbox of which, seized after 2/1/2 shots. we sure did raz him about that one.) So I know nothing of the current market, and all I get across the web is "this gun is better than this one", and the next review claims the opposite, all probably written by twelve year olds trying to sound cool. So I thought I would ask a guy who has been there and done that, that I can actually trust what he says. From here on out I will try to sift through the muck and mire of "reviews" posted by elleged "experts," for more technical information, but I fear it shall be a daunting task. I'm sure you are sick to death of answering peoples questions over and over. Thanks, I appreciate it.
