PSS2 springs will not fit the L96. They make a separate PSS96 series for the L96 and PSS10 series for the VSR's. FPS wise, the 170 should get you at a little over 500 fps mark.

i was just on redwolf and it says PSS2 170sp Spring for APS2 / Type 96.... so im assuming they are the same. im just a little confused.
I ran a PSS10 150 in my Gspec, but Maruzen is a whole new game to me.

You also have to be careful as to what spring guide you have. Some L96's have the 7mm spring guide and some have the 9mm one. They require different springs I believe. You should ask Boredkender about this, he is a fellow L96 user and more knowledgeable of these things.

Well the cylinder kits usually come with the 500 fps spring don't they? And after some further review, it turns out that 170 will put you above 500, but more in the 550-558 range. The 150 is at about 495 fps give or take. My gun game with a 500 fps cylinder kit and after tightbore and new hop-up chamber, is hitting about 540. It is still a little better to shoot low and have the little upgrades bring velocity up. That way you do not install a tightbore and discover that you are over 550 and cannot play.

You will find that even 500 fps is not all that special. A gun shooting 550 fps with .20's will shoot about 340 fps at 50 ft. That is why there is a 50 ft engagement limit in MIA regulations. You just have to try not to shoot anyone in the face, as all good airsofters should. It is not as big a deal as most think, and considering AEG's are shooting 400 fps, even high powered sniper rifles do not have a real advantage in the game. You just have to snipe because you want to, and you want to do it responsibly.
