i believe i am having a compression problem, but am not quite sure. if i cock and fire, either a bb will come out at very low velocity, or nothing will come out with both instances having like a vibrating noise accompanying. i tried with the hopup all the way on and off, same results. it looks like one end of the spring may be slightly bent, but if it is, it's such a small bend that it is really hard to tell. i wrapped some teflon tape around the threads on the nozzle and its not making a difference either

Theres no cracks in the nozzle or piston head is there. Even a non-noticeable hairline crack will do it.

well, it appears i fixed it... although i'm not quite sure what i did. i think when i tore it down before, i knowcked the hopup out of alignment or something, because i reset all of the internals and poof... it was working

Yeah I'd like to see a list of upgrades you've done, as well as other L96 users out there. I have a stock 96 sitting in my closet, and I'm eventually going to upgrade it. Theres a flood of parts and I'm pretty noobish with spring rifles.

well, i dont know much about the upgrades right now. i know it has an m120, but i am gonna be beefing that up quite a bit. appears to have stock spring guide and piston and everything else... but like i said, i really have no way to tell as i bought it used. crappy phone-cam pics will be going up in the gallery soon.
is shooting about 320 with .2's right now... not very great for a sniper i know. i am thinking about seeing what an m180 would do for it. if i could get suggestions for spring upgrades to break the 530-ish range, that would be pimp-tastic. i bought a 300% APS-2 spring, but it is too wide to fit inside the piston (see for-sale add in commerce)

Well jumprefusal, I too am a proud L96 owner, and you seemed interested in a list of upgrades?
Currently have JP 500 fps full cylinder kit installed Accushot 6x32 illuminated mil-dot some kind of bi-pod In the mail: FF 500mm M14 tighbore PDI L96 Hop-Up King Arms Lightweight trigger
With just the cylinder kit right now, the gun shoots a consistent 80-90 yards, with the occasional fluke shot hitting about a hundred yards. So if you were considering taking that L96 out of storage, I would highly recommend it.
And Kender, glad you got that fixed. Now we can all see the value of taking our guns apart eh? It is fun, and can fix things without trying to.

I was going to spend like 300 bucks I have nothing else to say, glad I didnt. Sounds like a good cylinder setup will get the job done right? I also plan on getting a zero-trigger, my old M24 practically took a hammer to get the trigger to fire. It was rediculous.

The stock L96 trigger, even with a 500FPS spring, is quite easy to pull.
But, of course, a zero trigger will allow you to simply tap the side of the trigger and the thing goes off. No safety though.

Safety?? *wiggles finger* this is my safety.
Just don't walk next to me.

Heh...with a zero trigger on the L96, the damned thing may well decide to fire if you need to run. It's that light.
