I assure you, I am well aware that the previous attempts that UHC made to make a sniper were complete and utter crap. However, I decided to approach this 3rd version in an open-minded manner, and I was impressed with what I found.
I did some research and found that the bulk of problems that people had with the weapon were because the gun was disassembled before shipping. The gun is rather unstable, and unless it arrives completely assembled, you're gonna run into some issues. BUT, if put together correctly, the gun has some drastic improvements over the other two.
1. The bolt is no longer plastic. A plastic bolt is a horrible idea, and it didn't work in the previous attempts.
2. There is adjustable hop-up, and it actually works pretty well.
3. I have not encountered any issues with the shells not ejecting. The originals had terrible issues with this, but I think that is pretty much over.
4. The gun is actually pretty accurate, something that the originals were most certainly not. Some problems that people complained about with this model were caused by them not adjusting the sight to match the gun, and the sight is already fairly close, so that takes minimal effort.
5. There is a safety feature (Whoop Dee Doo...) That should be standard, but the originals didn't have it.
6. When chrono'd acurately, it does indeed shoot 380-410fps.
Now, are you better off in the long run getting a TM? Yes, obviously, but this is a good start if you don't have much cash. I haven't had much time to take this gun out to a firing range, but from what I can see, the BBs have a flat trajectory with very few stray BBs. Now, I don't really know until I take it to the range, but I will update this promptly when I do.
All in all, this gun is much better than the Super 9, which sucked majorly. If you have the cash, go for a TM, and this gun may turn out to be unreliable, but despite it's bad rap, it's pretty good. Believe me, I had really low expectations, but it turned out well.
