Im kinda mad now. I just learned that springers are more powerful than AEGs. NOW WHAT THE Frick IS UP WITH THAT!!! I JUST BOUGHT AN MP5-K BECUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD TOTALLY DESTROY SPRINGERS!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: I retitled this thread it didn't seem to make allot of sense as it was. Luke

Umm...springers are NOT more powerful than an AEG- you made a wise move choosing the latter for your airsoft weapon. Whomever told you that springers are more "powerful" than AEG's is an ignoramus.
The inherent superiority of an AEG over a spring weapon are too numerous too list.

Guys SOME springers can be more powerful than others.. Example of the most powerful ones are Bolt action Snipers.. M24's, APS2's, M40's and so on... But AEGs are still the best route unless you are going to be a sniper... My sniper (SP M40XB) shoots at ~450 fps Ross PunisheR

Well, there *is* a difference between a springer (generally considered a cheap, poor (though not in all cases) quality beginners/kids gun) and a spring-driven sniper rifle

Yep dude calm down and get a new friend that doesn't pull info out of his ass ;D
AEG's and sniper rifles: are the top dog for the most part in airsoft, and also the most common, spring sniper rifles also fall in this catagory(we're talking about $500-900 springers here:) No Dunham's special). Effective range around 100ft.-300ft. Oh and TM Shotguns should fall somewhere between here and GBB's.
GBB's and NBB's: are a second though generally relied on but players as a backup. Range varies allot depending on gun, but I've taken shots with my 19 out to about 100ft. absolute max.
Springer's and EBB's and Mini's: POS guns usually used in lots of screw around games, nothing serious no camo required kinda deal. More less I don't allow springer's in the games I've been running, and it's really up to the player but where your going up against some guys running 249's(*cough*Jacko*cough* ;D) you will not want to be shooting single shot with shitty range. So range on springers I would say is insignificant, except for a few and I'm not even going to get into that.

Luke, you seem to be engendering some sort of idea that I'm a cold-blooded killer. I like it, keep it up. But just to throw my weight into the conversation: I wouldn't even consider spring powered sniper rifles as springers. They're a whole seperate class of weapon. If your friend was talking about an APS2 or M24, then he's right, they generally are more powerful than AEG's, though electric guns can be upgraded past stock sniper rifles. But a sniper rifle will never have the ROF of an AEG, so... Decide which type of weapon is best for you and your playing field.

Jacko, cold-blooded killer?
Nah, he's just a big teddy bear. With an M249. Don't try to hug him when he's holding the beast. And, whatever you do, don't turn the lights off.
er...right. On-topic information...damnit, Luke covered everything. Oh well.

I agree with dawg bait. I just got a Super 9 sniper. Its pretty good against AEG's, but its even better against springers. Now, I'm not sure if I should stay with the sniper or get an AEG?

Zippo.. my KJW M9 Full metal has better range than a Super 9.. Super 9 is listed as cheap springer, not the M24, APS 2 and M40 area.. Get an AEG.. unless you have money to get an upgraded sniper

if I'm too lazy to spell a full word out. Please mock me. on a really low budget i would suggest the Mk.1 Carbine gas sniper. 475fps with .2g bb's and 430fps with .43g bb's. Its is about 100-125ft, and its accurate to about 75-85. But heres the best part, it costs from $90-100.It comes with a 17 round mag.there and no high cap mags for it, but if I'm too lazy to spell a full word out. Please mock me. a sniper, you shouldn't need it.Llike i said, its a carbine version of the ruger mk.1 pistol, so its mag is a pistol mag that is interchangable between the two.
But, if you have the money, get an m40 or an APSII, this is for someone on a low budget. *reliable gun *low cost *thumbs up

Maybe, but the VSR-10 actually looks like a sniper rifle, whereas the Mk.1 looks like something James Bond would use.
