Hey, I'm new to MiA, but not as new to airsoft, but I need some help, because my side arm isn't cutting it right now. I'm using a HF USP spring as a backup in case my temporary M4 fails. Now this M4 is all plastic and is a piece. I did order a FAMAS, but anyway back to the point; I was looking at a UHC M92 Heavyweight, because I know someone who has one and it really shoots nicely. I didn't want to look at descriptions and reviews at some of the airsoft seller sites, because obviously they want to sell their products. Just wondering what you guys would prefer for a spring pistol backup.

For a spring pistol back up I would go with a Tokyo Marui. I know they are a bit more expensive than others but from what many people have said they fire very nicely. You might also want to check the stickied thread at the top of this forum Spring Pistol test data. That should give you a good idea of what different spring pistols are firing at. I believe TM makes a Glock, a Beretta and possibly a MK23 in spring though I am not exactly sure. All I know is stay away from Y&P pistols when it comes to spring. Out of the two I had the first one broke in 3 days and another within a month.

It's amazing how I just took 45 seconds out of my time to find this person the TM pistols that you are talking about instead of giving him a questionable answer to if they even exist. And btw All UHC pistols are copies of TM pistols. Just made much more cost efficent let's say and less quality control. www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?cat=Marui%20Spring%20Pistols

Tokyo marui spring pistols and rifles are very well made.
Before, i was the big AEG "buff" i am now i owned a USP and berretta. I usually only used them for "basement" type"wars" with 3-6 people.
However, they do perform very well in comparision to some of the other types of spring manufatures guns available.
As stated above, they are made very well. Not once did i have a promblem with the USP, berreta or Mp5 i owned that were spring rifles by Tokyo marui.
Also if you have a bit more cash and are serious but don't have the money to drop on an AEG a Tokyo marui or Classic army spring rifle would be a good choice. I belive they run in the vincinity of $90-$120 (you will prombly want to ch4ck on that as i am not sure... its been a while).
On ebay there are usually sellers who sell those type of spring rifles for discount costs brand new. So you may want to check that out also.
I suggest only buying brand new those type of guns.

I don't think he needs a rifle. He just ordered an AEG (TM FAMAS). After reading some reviews though, that seems to be the way to go (TM).

well heres my biggest tip to anybody who buys a TM pistol. Make sure you get one that is also being made as a UHC. Hence if you buy a mauri, you can buy uhc mags for very cheap and they will work in the mauri. I did this for my m9 about 3 years ago. But when I bought a Mark 23 it was impossible to find mags for it, since uhc doesnt make a mark 23.

UHC makes a USP, isn't it the same thing really (mag wise)?

The Mark 23 takes a much larger shaped magazine then the USP series does.

Thanks for the feedback guys. BTW Ice love the avatar.
Since I did spend such a pretty penny on the FAMAS and accessories for it, that is why I am not going gas backup and I'm going to stick with the spring. I was considering buying the gas TM Mk23 but was not sure about how the spring compared in quality.
One thing I forgot to mention was that I want the pistol compatible with .2 bb's distance wise, hopefully that won't really change your opinions on the pistol that would suit my description the best.
THanks
Magua

Tokyo marui pistols shoot well with .2 bbs.
I usually used .2 bbs with the gun.

also, since no one else said it, if you go with a TM pistol, make sure its and HGHU (High Grade with Hop Up), i think they come in a tan box, not exactly sure tho, so you may want to check, also, i have heard that the Generation 2 TM pistols use .2s and the Gen. 3 pistols use .25s, and heres a page with a (i think) complete list of TM spring pistols www.paintball-x.com/index.php?cPath=193_31_53&osCsid=b11a943171a42e7de1d3b2125693ced6

I owned a HGHU TM Mark 23. Heres what I will say about it. shoots excellent, ungodly accurate, but heres the draw backs of the things i didnt like. Its entirely made of plastic, Kinda hard and akward to cock everytime, unless you have gigantic hands. The barrel tip is made of some really fragile plastic, as if you where to drop it, it wont crack, but shatter. i would recommend you go with the TM USP so that you can get spare magazines and still have that H&K feeling and higher quality. The Mark 23 isnt a bad gun, but it's not the best one Mauri makes. Heres A quick little bit of added info for you on it though. It can accept Mark 23 silencers on it. So you can buy a Socom that is used on the TM Nbb and thread her right on.

Well, I own a USP and i was kind of trying to get away from the manufacturer but also it would be nice to try a different pistol model then just going back to the same thing just different manufacturer; if that makes sense.
Almost immediately when i thought of getting the mk23 i would get the silencer hands down because it will look sweet. Also which part is the shattering cheap plastic? Is it the threading itself that is really cheaply made?
