Yeah Sniper Rifles are cool as hell to look at. The idea is also cool as hell. But think about it......Can you actually use one in a battle? If it only shoots 90-100 feet whats the point of being a sniper? Why not just use camo and an M4 or something? I dunno maybe I'm just an idiot but could someone please inform me on this topic?

What topic? The topic of Super 9s, or the topic of being a sniper in airsoft? There is no way a Super 9 can compete with a heavily upgraded high-end sniper rifle, such as a Maruzen APS2, when it comes to distance, accuracy, and availability of upgrades. As far as being useful in combat, I'm sure frostee would be glad to tell you about the many long range shots he's made with his APS2. The people who have played with him can also verify that it's a very nice gun, and downright evil when used properly.

Super 9's suck huge but they arent the only sniper rifle on the market. And yes they are very effective in a skirmish.

Yeah my buddy is looking into one. Do they need upgrades, heck can you get spring upgrades for it?

WGC has springs that are listed as Super9 compatible. I wouldn't expect much though, except that the other internals will probably break faster from having a stonger spring. There aren't really any spare parts available for the Super9, so you'd be kind of screwed if things started breaking. If your buddy wants to put money into upgrading a gun, he should start with a better platform than the Super9.

Super 9s are fun when you cycle the bolt about four times and use it as a shotgun..........im pretty sure that only works on the ones with the external feed tube, though.

I can vouch for the APS2, I've shot it quite a bit, and have not been dissapointed. However, I will be purchasing a M24 in the near future, as I have shot that too. Although heavier in weight, I still like it, the only minor & common problem with the M24 is the tendency to have screws loosen on you, which is simply fixed by carrying a set of allen wrenches... as someone (sorry if I don't quote, don't remember who stated it.) said before on the boards. Anyways, as it has been said countless times before on Airsoft boards, if you want to have a good sniper rifle....your going to have to purchase something that will be around $300 dollars stock, and probably going to spend 1 & a half to 2 times that $300 to upgrade it so that it outranges a decently outfitted AEG. To be a sniper you have to be commited, patient, not prone to sleep when laying in the dirt (Remembers Major's statement on the MTASC board.) , and finally, you have to have a pretty good budget. Well, you've probably already purchased an AEG but, if you ever decide to get into sniping, im sure a lot of us Airsoft snipers would be more than willin' to help ya out! - Grunt (Sniper on FIAT Boards: fiat.proboards12.com)
