I was just wondering what the exact laws are regarding the orange tip on the end of the gun. Is it legal to remove? I have searched and could not find anything. If i could get an article number or something to prove it that would be great since there are is a lot of misinformation out there. Thank you very much.

Searched and couldn't find anything?!!? By any chance, do you not know how to use the search engine on this board? Well, as far as I know, the only reason you need the orange tip is when buying from a dealer or when it is being shipped. You can play without it, most of us do, but if your parents want you to leave it on, it might be best to obey them. After all, it won't protect you from a cop shooting you. Criminals can and have painted the tip of real guns orange.

When we decided to open the airsoft storefront in Grand Haven I contacted all of the local law enforcement in the area to let them know what we have brought into the area. Office Grillo from the Grand Haven Police department and I met several weeks ago. According to Import rules and regulations from a DHL / Customs office All replica guns must have at least 1/4" blaze orange tip. That is a 1/4" in lenth from the tip of the barrel to get into the country. Most state and local offices have laws and regulations regarding the blaze orange issue. We were simply told. Sell them with the tip orange by the Grand Haven Police Department and to advise all purchasers that the removal of the orange tip would result in sever police involvement. However, no cut and dried law can be found.
Please see: Legal Definition Below

(2) The Secretary of Commerce may provide for an alternate marking or device for any toy, look-alike, or imitation firearm not capable of being marked as provided in paragraph (1) and may waive the requirement of any such marking or device for any toy, look-alike, or imitation firearm that will only be used in the theatrical, movie or television industry. -CITE-
