Can we get automatic image resizing? Most other places I post already implement this, and it's a bit annoying having to upload a second set of resized photos for MIA.

I know, I can just never remember what those codes are, and when I do need them I can never find them. I'd still like auto image resizing, because that way you can easily click on that image for the hires version.

Only problem I see with this is people not switching over and losing a lot of the "not super into airsoft" REC game guys.

Only problem I see with this is people not switching over and losing a lot of the "not super into airsoft" REC game guys. That could happen but I figure those guys will show up at this MIA once it's locked and there will be notifications all over forwarding them to the new site. So as long as Proboards doesn't go crazy and delete the MIA archive I think they will be able to find us at the new site. I'm also hoping to get a PM blast to everyone notifying them of the new site, that way guys who aren't here but once in a while will be able to find it without needing to stumble into it. We'll see though it's a test of sorts. Ideally we could just port the content to a new system, or not have Proboards telling us what we can and cannot do but at this point neither is possible. So we're sort of stuck with that pull the band-aid moment and move on with everything as best we can. That said it's better than some other forums that have been hacked and lost all the content. It's still here just we'll be working on the new site going forward. So I think it's a compromise but it's the best option we could figure out. Luke

I think the 100+ players at our rec games begs to differ. We have 30-40 people sign up on the forums and the others come from social media. Just because players only attend rec games, it doesn't say anything about their commitment to the game, but rather what they like to play. I think this is an excellent opportunity to bring some of the players who have left the forum back.

I didn't mean that only going to rec games makes you a lesser quality of airsofter, I meant (like I said) the people who are just not super into the sport and would flake easily if they had to make the effort to switch over to a new website. I still go to REC games as the majority of my play.

I just want to thanks to the Mods for coming up with this solution. I would like to see a more updated forum; I have to say it looks out dated but it is in it's early development days. I may have missed it but is the site free or will mods have to do some sort of patch sale? Also, will the "New Memeber" label be fixed? It just kind of bugs me that I have been here since 2009 and am still labled as a new guy, like many other users.

Yeah its still a work in progress so be patient as the site undergoes changes. The site will be free for users. Currently a few individuals are covering all the costs and effort to make the site happen and I thank them for that. Luke is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. We do plan on setting up a patch sale as mentioned here: miairsoft.proboards.com/thread/51009/mia-patch-design-2015Canto also talked about getting a fund raising game set up so that the site will continue to be free for everyone and continue to be ad-free as well. The hope is we will be able to raise enough funds to keep the site operating for a few years until we have to have another round of patches or fund raising games. Knowing the MIA community though, I don't think this will be an issue. Unfortunately the "new member" tag is gonna be given to everyone at least for now since everyone including the mods are new members. We have come up with a solution though to modify your post count to reflect what you have here on MIA so you can use that as a measure on who has been around or at the least who has posted a lot. PM Luke for that if you want your post count updated.

The patches will pay for the site, though with the way we have it setup the cost should be pretty easy to cover year to year. If MIA grows in traffic and members then down the road we may have to find other ways to support it. Really just depends on the cost of hosting we're pretty much tied to how much that cost is and what we'll be able to do with it. But we're trying to keep the costs down as low as possible, no one is getting paid(which I suspect you all know;) But I'll say it anyways). So it's just the pure costs of running the site that will be paid for by any sort of donations or patches etc.
On the label it's all based on how many posts you've got so without looking up the numbers it jumps to the next level as your posts increase. I'm not even sure off the top of my head what those levels are but it's likely your just under one at 500 I suspect. That said I agree it's a bad way to do titles but I've never seen anything based on length of time on the site either.
Once you setup on the new site though shoot me a PM and I'll update your post count to match here so your not starting fresh. I can I believe also do registration dates but I haven't done that on anyone else's either.

I just posted in the commerce section and noticed something about the posting options. When you hit preview after adding an attachment to the post it will not show up in the preview.

Agreed it's not showing under the preview but when you edit if you click the attachments area at the bottom you can unselect the photo and remove it from the post. Or at least that's how it's working for me on my end.
I will say though the reason the attachment size is so small is to put less data through the server and storage, so best practice will be to host it on another photo host then link it with IMG tags to add pictures to posts. You can do small pictures as attachments but it's just more storage etc.

Honestly, we'd rather have you host on imgur.com or wherever. It decrease our storage needs, but more importantly, it gives you complete control over your content. You can also use the same pictures on any board without uploading it a bunch of different times. I know it adds a step in putting up content, but I think there's a real benefit to members managing their own pictures.

Yeah, some of us get tired of digging through old threads and seeing everyone raving about some dudes picture, only to try to look at it and find that the user or the host site have removed the picture since 2008. Not a big issue, just a personal pet peve of mine.

That's one downside of hosting photos outside of the forums old archives. I'll admit allot of my old pictures are gone for that reason they were on pbase I believe but either way. I'm not sure that storage would be so much of an issue but bandwidth would at some point be. Images are just bigger than text and other content so if we don't have to host them it's just less data to have to run through the server.
