A quick search on evike turned up Matrix and phantom gear drop leg mp7/mp5 holsters. I had a kwa m11a for a bit and apart from the horrible jamming problem (open bolt + crawling = no bang) it worked rather well in just a fabric pistol holster.

I can't find the piece so unfortunately I'll have to try describe it a little better. The piece I had designed had 3 sections to it. It was 1 long piece of fabric with 2 flaps (the flaps had velcro on them). In order to store the P90 I had to open both flaps, place the gun against the middle layer, close the flap with the soft velcro on it and then close the last flap over it. Since i can't find the damn thing this is the best representation with what i had at hand.

That makes sense. Sort of like the pantec weapon catch but without the rigid portion. That's somewhat what I was thinking for leg mount. I'm digging having it on my back right now or lower back mostly because it should help keep it out of the snow. But another couple months and I'll have no more snow for a least a few months;) And with that change I might try some other options too.

I had also, before getting the weapon catch made, used neodymium magnets to hold the gun on my back. I had a heavy magnet in my hydro and rigged a magnet to one of the rails on my P90. it worked 90% of the time as well. I also believe TheEnd also made a molle spade for hooking onto his back while in combat: Page 1That might work for your application.

The Matrix sub machine gun drop leg holster only holds MP7s. I bought it for my MP5 and it doesn't work at all. As soon as I start running the gun flops out immediately. I tried it with my MP7 and it held it in place well but it is a pain in the ass to unbuckle and draw the gun during combat.

Sounds to me like the MP5k with a drop leg holster would be your best bet. If you're only looking for a replacement during the colder months since you can't use your GBB pistol and already have an MP5K, then buy a replacement short magazine if you must and pick up the drop leg holster.
It'll be less bulky than carrying around another primary type of weapon like an M4. Unless you want to pick up a clone AEP of the MP7, Scorpion, UZI, or any other SMG. But then you're back to getting some sort of drop leg or other way of securing those too.

I added a quick disconnect to the front of the MP5k for around on the back and it works well. I'm not sure if it works better than the G36c though or enough better to warrant the less range and ammo capacity. So we'll see this weekend I'll try both and see how it works out in practice and see which I prefer. I dig the capability to roll out a full sized gun in a pinch rather than the sniper rifle but we'll see that MP5k requires a little different tactics with that short barrel and stock FPS.

Update played yesterday with both the G36 and the MP5k in different rounds on my lower back like I described. Overall it works but snow got packed on the guns a few times, and releasing the quick disconnect was difficult with heavy gloves on. So it might work a little better with less cold weather gear on. Also I was running my parka over my vest with my mags so it was overall a difficult setup I should have thought through better before trying to field it.
So my new thought is that in warmer weather it might work as planned, but I'm going to look into a scabbard possibly for my M4 instead of the G36 or the mp5. Also a handgun would be allot faster and easier, so I'm going to start hunting for an AEP for a quick backup. I think that after testing it that's the most logical solution and the easiest to implement. During the warmer weather of course I can run a GBB so it's only really an issue right now until the weather gets warm. But I think for next year I'll field an AEP;)
Thanks much for all the suggestions and ideas, it got me on the right track to try something to test out that worked even if it wasn't perfect;)
