Rubbing alcohol will dissolve/break down the glues. That's what I used.

Thanks! I actually just used a wet wash cloth and it worked fine. I was expecting it to put up a bigger fight since my finger nail wasn't working.

Slapping packing tape or scotch tape on it after you peal off the chrome outer piece takes it right off tow like tank said.
