The current matrix field is not failing due to money reasons.it is failing due to it not being worth the effort to only have 10 guys show up. Gregs concern is with putting effort into a great field like the current matrix and then having no one show up. He does not want to do this with the school too. He did say that the neighborhood was not the best.

CQB $ells. To qoute Waynes World 2. Build it, and they will come. Kazoo isn't in the best area either and every time I've been there they always have 30 or more players.

Kalamazoo Airsoft is in the middle of the hood Kalamazoo hood. I've seen fist fights between kids in the street and bystanders walk by just to watch for a bit with the outside portion of the field. Recommendation is you put keypad locks on the front door and door to the tech room if there is going to be one. Other than that I wouldn't see many problems with an abandon school.

That reinforces the statement, if Kazoo can do it "if you build it, they will come"
Lock the doors, make sure you have security cameras, and invest in a fence by the second year and you'll be fine.

Gregs concern is with putting effort into a great field like the current matrix and then having no one show up. For this reason I think you should be at least open to other people hosting games. I guarantee if he gave The Bastards or Suicide Kings a chance to host a game he could get some good numbers. This isn't a bash on you, I'm just saying what I see from an outside perspective.

The reason I ask this is because back when the first Matrix field was open, Greg invited a couple guys to play airsoft and those guys were saying they play airsoft in an old school in Detroit. Those guys were also packing real guns when they came out to play with us and made a lot of people uncomfortable. I think knowing the location of the school and the condition of it will be the biggest factors in determining if it's going to be worth opening for airsoft play. If the school is relatively close to a major freeway so that most people don't have to drive 15-20 minutes through the neighborhoods to get to it, then that would be ideal. Even more important will be the condition of the building itself. Since it was already mentioned that the building has already been scrapped then I assume that it's probably not in the best location and may be questionable to play in. You also have to consider parking which was a challenge for the first field and I'm not sure how it is for the current field as I haven't been to it. If I don't feel safe leaving my car parked outside of the school or in whatever the available parking is, I'm sure many others won't either. Tango Down's previous location on E. Grand Blvd actually wasn't that bad considering that it was in Detroit. It was right in between I-75 and Woodward Ave making it very convenient to get to. The other question I have is who the clientele will be. With all that being said, I would definitely be open to trying it if it were to come to fruition but in order for it to be successful will depend on what I mentioned above.

I think matrix needs to worry about turning a profit before expanding to a second location, let SK run one or two events.

Any progress? Seems like people are interested, given it's not in the center of a shithole.

Sounds like a good idea. I am willing to get out there and play. It will be easier in the spring/summer though, because I'm busy with school now.
