So I am new to airsoft, and have been wanting to get into it for a long time. I was wondering any suggestions for a starter gun, and I also wondered about a full metal body or just polymer. I have been looking at the GG Combat Machine (no link), the Matrix M4 (http://www.evike.com/products/42392/) and the WE-Tech full metal M4 (http://www.evike.com/products/46528/). I will be getting an airsoft gun for Christmas so i wondered which would be best, thank you.

Hmm. Well, the WE-Tech is at an amazing price currently, but that could change, but it depends on how much stuff you need for airsoft in general. Personally I would pick the The WE-Tech, as it is just the best replica you have stated. But I have heard wonderful things about the combat machine, as it is very widely used. However, if you are not very serious about airsoft, then I would recommend the Matrix M4, as it includes a full package of items necessary for Airsofting, other than ANSI verified goggles.

The only thing stopping me from the full metal rifle is the weight, I'm not sure what field im going to be playing at, if its CQB or not, and if I'm going to play Milsim. It weighs roughly 6.7 pounds which would seem like it would get heavy after a while, which is making me lean towards the polymer body, but I didn't know if the polymer would be durable enough. Thanks for the quick reply

I have also read reviews of not many mags fitting the matrix m4 for some reason

I've had my Polymer G&G for 2.5 years now. It holds up like a tank.

I've played with a polymer gun for a couple years now. If you don't try to chop a tree down with the body you should be alright. That said, I prefer the weight and general feel of a full metal replica.

Sounds like I will go with the polymer one, the weight of the metal one doesn't get heavy after a long game?

Not in my opinion, but now that I'm lugging a 249 around everything seems light. If you avoid adding a lot of unnecessary things like a 40mm grenade launcher, a magnifier for your sight, a laser or a flashlight if you don't need one then the weight isn't bad.

Would these guns I listed above be the best choices?

Probably, but if you tell us the price range then we could give a better answer. Also, 6.7 pounds is not a lot, most guns weigh around the 8 pound range.

I wouldn't like to go more than $180 but if I have to go up to $200 I will. I'd like an m4/m16 platform because I'm just in love with the look of it.

Then I would go with the WE-Tech, for the money it is the best option out of those. Be sure to pick up the necessary accessories.
