Thoughts? Personally, I think it's pretty neat, but the FCU makes me kinda worried. Seems way too easy to adjust, and from my 5 minute understanding of what you can change, it would be pretty easy for some asshole to chrono in at a low FPS (Tune the dwell to something really high, and then just toggle it really low) and a respectable RPS, then set the settings to overkill 9001 on the field.

I was just looking in to this, and I think they look really cool. The fact that there is no machining to be done as there is with most polarstar's, because this just drops into most gearboxes, is fantastic. However this is only one of the few advantages over a polarstar. You are correct in saying it would be very easy for someone to crank up the settings on field, but we do have in place a system to stop this already. The price model is also pretty high considering you don't get the "I have a polarstar", or polarstar's huge base of people to help you with it. I agree with you about the FCU, it looks like they cheaped out on it a lot. At $400 shipped I just don't think it is worth it, considering that you are not getting some of the features of the polarstar, and only some more reliability and ease of install. Overall they just need to find a way to drop down the price to like $250.

I'd even be game to get it at $300 just to toy around with, but yeah not at $400.

When I originally saw these, I was thinking they were going to retail for $150ish. I'm not sure where that number came from-if I read it I or just made it up. At that price to it looked like a fun thing to try tossing in whatever dead gun I had lying around. When I saw the real price, my jaw dropped. It seems like they cut out a lot of features for the $100 differential. Also, P*s started at $450 when I picked mine up a couple years ago. I'll stick with the FE, thank you!

I bought mine brand new for $400 actually from Amped before they raised the price to $450 and then $500 for the Gen 3's. That was their original starting price. I saw AEX was selling the Wolverine SMP for about $390 but even that's still too rich for my blood. I'm able to get over the more primitive FCU that the SMP offers, however it just looks really cheap. but as long as it works and is reliable then I guess that doesn't matter but it just looks so cheap compared to a Polar Star FCU.

I picked up my V1 FE for $425 a few years ago.
I really don't see why you'd buy the SMP over the Fusion Engine given the $110 difference. The SMP doesn't provide you with the same level of adjustability via the FCU, plus it seems slightly more difficult to install.
Still, I can see buying an SMP to install in a non-V2 or non-V3 based rifle. That raises the question of how well it will fit in something other than the standard mechboxes.
