I have an a and k saw i traded a crappy classic army sportline scar for. The gun is great so far even the mag (with a bad reputation for feeding )feeds alright. I also hear no bad sounds from the gearbox ,the only sounds that I hear,I also hear on my other higher quality guns as well. So should i get a new gearset and have the gearbox maintnenced or m I being paranoid? Suggestionss of what I should upgrade to get good rof and longer effective supression range would be appreciated

To be honest the gears are probably one of the strongest parts of the a&k saw gearbox. I've made minimal changes to the gearbox in my saw and have experienced great results.
1. Get a high torque motor, the stock motor is not of good quality. I found the G&G high torque (short type) to be very effective for its low price ($40 I think).
2. A quick re-shim will also vastly improve the life of your saw, and again it's a cheap upgrade $4-6.
3. A good 9.6v battery. I bought the biggest one I could find (4200 mah, I've played over 8 hrs with out it even slowing down). This will bring your rate of fire to approximately that of the real saw, which is nice for realism.
4. Finally a good hop up bucking (I've also had great results with a kwa 2gx bucking). Your job with an LMG is to suppress not snipe, so all you should want is the extended range a good bucking will give you.
If you have a spare piston/piston head I'd try it out. Stock the compression was almost non existent. I was surprised the gun even shot. I just took an old piston and sanded it down a bit for a better fit and the compression vastly improved.
Anyway, I hope this helps, if you need any other tips or help feel free to pm me.

Also do you think these upgrades could do good in other SAW's like ones made by Classic Army.

dizzyshot (Bad Company)Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the classic army, my A&K is almost 2 years old now, but with A&K I think the newer versions are built better. From what I've heard they improved the trigger switch and the hop up design (my saw didn't even feed when I got it, I had to modify the hop up to get it to work, it is an older version though). However, a good bucking will always improve performance. As for the motor, I don't know if they have changed it out, probably not, so I'd still recommend changing it to a high torque, A&K has never shimmed a gearbox correctly, so defiantly re-shim it. The piston can be swapped if you want, it will fire decent either way, but if you want more fps don't change the spring, just the piston/piston head, it will put less stress on the gearbox increasing its life span, and drastically improve the air seal, raising the fps. As for classic army, I can only say what I've heard. Overall they are a more solid platform. Internally the trigger switch features a better design and the hop up is machined to a better spec, resulting in less feeding issues. I know nothing about their piston and motor, so I cant help you there. Like I said before there is always a better bucking, so I would invest in a good one. While classic army may shim their gearbox better, I'd still re-shim it. Generally in factory very little time, if any is taken to shim a gearbox, so it generally can always be improved upon. I'm sure they're a few classic army saw owners out there, hopefully one will see this thread and can expand on, or possibly correct me on what the classic army saw is like. I hope this helps you out.

What range do you want? Just saying "beter ROF and range" is pretty vague. Without knowing what you want done, how are we supposed to tell you what to do? That being said, you can never go wrong with all the DIY mods. Shimming, correcting AOE, perfecting airseal, etc. That may be all you need depending on your goals.

Thank you for the suggestions and I didnt know the gears were strong on the a&k saws ,I know a&k has good external builds but I have heard bad stuff about their internals

Ok. 25 RPS is a solid goal for a support gun. It's plenty fast to keep heads down, but not fast enough to destroy the gearbox if you have a heavy trigger finger. A&K guns have xyt gears, which are plenty strong and can easily handle that. So here's what I'm going to recommend: -Get a high torque motor. A couple good ones are the SHS high torque, ZCI balance motor, and lonex A2. Don't get the ZCI torque or JG blue. They're both great motors, but aren't as fast as the three I suggested. -Do all the DIY mods. Shim, correct AOE, Radius the shell, etc. -Install a MOSFET and get a high output, high MAH 11.1v lipo. A support gun will kill an NIMH battery in no time. -If it doesn't have it already, get a metal racked piston. The SHS 15t is amazing. This should be a relatively easy build. The parts and mods listed will easily reach your goal.
