Hello all,
Anyone here have/have tested the TM M870? I am really curious about it and don't really have the time to research it in-depth yet. I know G&P has released a ton of aftermarket parts for it.

Hello all, Anyone here have/have tested the TM M870? I am really curious about it and don't really have the time to research it in-depth yet. I know G&P has released a ton of aftermarket parts for it. The Jeffs have one. Only person I know of that has picked one up. I got to play with it for a moment at an event. Pretty amazing. Hopefully they'll chime in.

I was interested in them until I found out they were smaller than 1:1 and the gas tanks are known to expand with the use of propane. I realize they are meant for 134A only, but expanding tanks next to my head freak me out a bit. There is a mod to put a bolt through the tank sides to help hold them together. That just puts the force somewhere else. Might be cool to run on HPA though.
I have zero first hand experience just posting what concerned me.

I know someone just HPA tapped theirs on some facebook group I'm apart of. I'd rather run an external tank tapped than deal with the changeable cartridges (though they are a lot better than mags/shells that hold the gas).

Sorry, I don't check this part of the forum often. In brief, this gun is accurate to a surprising distance for a shotgun. Hitting a man sized target from 120 to 150 feet is not difficult (usually with 2 or 3 of the bbs). Every now and then, there is nothing like a shotty. Roaming the field with this gun, you just point, shoot, kill, pump, repeat.... The tank itself is adequate. I have 10 shells, and the tank doesn't run out (100 shots or 300 bbs down field). More than enough for most indoor games. Recently, the tank began to leak from the bottom seal (see pics). Probably because I use propane. We sealed it with gasket seal and haven't had any more issues. All in, we like this gun.

Kurt, my point around the bottom seal failing was in response to your concern (e.g., if the sides expand, they get "wider" than the bottom plate, and then you get a gas leak). I'm not concerned about a dangerous failure now that I've taken it apart. I've filled the tank with propane many times and left the tank out to examine it. The sides never expanded. I did, as noted, develop the gas leak after about a year of use.

When I have disposable income again, this WILL be my first airsoft purchase. I am glad to hear it is working out. I really want to see how effective the CAW (is that it?) retractable stock kit is.

I'm waiting until they release their "Breacher" version. That, I will own.

Double post because I got the breacher.
Its sturdy as all hell upon first impression. Haven't shot it yet, waiting on my duster adapter to get here.
Will update.

I plan on picking one of these up within the next few months and I plan on running it on an external tank. does anybody here know if the air inlet is already threaded or will I have to drill and tap it myself?

Well now there is hope. Hopefully that is 1/8th NPT and it will be as simple as putting a push-to-connect fitting it there. but it came from japan so its probably some Japanese standard thread. If not; oh well, seems like it will be easy enough.

Timm,
You need to find a way to grain out a wooden pistol grip and put it on that beast as soon as possible.
