I can't seem to get my programming software to work with my radio. If anyone on here can program an Icom F4tr for me or walk me through the process I would really appreciate. I'm willing to pay to ship my radio there and back if someone can do this for me.

Just saw this thread is a few days old, but here we go: Have you used the cable before that you are trying to program your Icom with? If so, do you have the cable plugged in to the same USB port that you used before? (ex. Comm 3) Is the cable a legit ICOM cable, or is it a cheap Chinese cable? The cheap cables have a bootlegged Prolific chip in them that will not automatically install the drivers. If this sounds like your problem, check out this link www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Drivers.phpIt has the driver download for clone Prolific chips. You will always have to use that cable in the same USB port, or install the driver each time you change ports. It is goofy, but that is what happens when China makes clones of crap. If that doesn't get you working, let me know. -KD8WTY

But I have two different cables and have installed the drivers on 3 different computers. The cable works on any of the USB ports for any of the computers including USB 2.0 and 3.0. I've used this driver... download.cnet.com/Prolific-USB-to-Serial-Comm-Port/3000-2112_4-153021.htmlOP, If you don't have XP then you will probably need DOSBox to run the software. I was helping Troub (I think?) on Facebook and the software he had for his F4 was 16 bit. Sent from my XT1080 using proboards

It may be something in the security settings about unlicensed drivers, or it could be my Dell laptop being a piece of crap. The driver I linked works with both of the cables I have from different manufacturers. One is for a Yaesu radio, and the other for a Baofeng. I'm sure all the the China companies are using the same Prolific clones. It is a shame that CHIRP doesn't support ICOM HT's yet. They have mobile rig support, so maybe one day the program will be able to support all the common radios.
