Great info, Gimp. Thanks for staying on top of it. It's still probably not for me for the same reasons that P*s aren't, but we'll have to see what they're like on the field. Plus, I don't know if you heard, I have this amazing PTW...

I think coldwave and I are waiting for a little bit more active play reviews on it before making a decision to buy, but I've also kept my eye on the new Wolverine SMP (single moving part?) that is being developed as well. Its a drop in gearbox hpa conversion that makes any v2/v3 (etc) gearboxes HPA compatible, curious to see how it pairs out at 390.00 over a brand new gun like Tippmann m4. wolverineairsoft.com/

Found out about this on a PB forum. I don't know about the rest of you, But I'm super excited about this.
For a bit of comparison let hold it up to other GBB's and External Air guns.
Tippmann: Internal or external Air, Unregulated, AEG mags, AEG barrel and Hop-up, guaranteed factory support and parts, NOT a realistic GBB, potentially inefficient.
DG and Escort: AEG mags (although VERY picky) AEG barrels, and proprietary hop-up, HPA or Co2, NO factory support, spare parts are super expensive and the non LCT models shake themselves apart, Good hard kick and quite loud, Chops bb's like a mofo
P* and Wolverine: AEG mags, easy to setup and use, drop in on almost any gun, HPA only (bad for us in the boonies), still potential wiring issues and still rely on badwheels (batteries).
Asahi/JAC: Mags are rare, expensive, and low-mid cap, no hop-up, possibly an LRB or SCS upgrades available, Hard to set up when LRB is installed, When parts break you must pay an arm and a leg for a new gun so you can scavenge parts, internally sound and mechanically simple, mildly efficient, Co2, HPA, or internal tank (don't use those!) on the plus side, if you have an LRB you can put bb's up to 300ft accurately with them.
Modern contemporary GBB's: low capacity, alphabet soup of model #'s and different parts, sacrificing reliability for realism (except in rare cases) expensive mags, unregulated green gas/propane sucks in cool weather.
I will admit I have an aversion to GBBr's

Oops! I searched for a thread before I posted and I came up with nothing, Sorry about that!
Anyways I will for sure be picking this up, Tippmann holds a special place in my heart and it has now been brought over to airsoft and that makes me happy. I'm already a DG and Asahi owner so the start-up cost for remote lines and tanks for me is nill, and since I don't have to deal with electronics, batteries OR the angry sewing machine this will only improve my days.
God do I hate fixing AEG's....thats it, I said it.

It's all good! The search on here sucks and this thread was on the second page of the section so it wasn't easy to find if you didn't know about it.

I've been hearing that retailers are beginning to receive their first shipments. Has anyone heard any credibility to this or seen a production model yet?

Even better, hells survivors rented one out at the realsim. I got to shoot it. It seemed pretty great.

How fast do you think these will sell out? They've been hyped up a lot.

From what I understand a few production models have made it out to the general public and more should follow over the next month or so. Check this FB Group for reviews and tear downs.

Does anyone know what the accuracy and constancy is using hpa? Is it comparable to a polarstar or daytona?

Here's a video showing the Tippman AR's consistency. I'm not sure how this rifle has been tuned and it might exhibit a different level of consistency at lower speeds, so keep that in mind when viewing.
