Hey guys. Started sewing about a week ago and thought I would share. Disclaimer: I'm not interested in doing custom work; I only do that for friends. Definitely go to Hunt for that.
So it started with this custom admin pouch I got from Hunt. Foolishly I didn't give him any dimensions and it ended up being way too big:
So one day I sat down, learned how to sew, and made it the size I wanted. I had the idea of adding a backlight feature for maps and documents while I was at it, and ended up with this:
I then thought of some design enhancements, ordered materials, and got to work. It evolved into this, and as of now I have made and sold 4 or 5 of them.
This next project started out with a broken CPC Assaulers Back Panel a buddy gave me (see here: cryeprecision.com/P-BLCZP102LG0/Pouch-Zip-on-Panel). However, I had my own pouches I wanted to mount, so naturally I removed the pouches and converted the whole thing to MOLLE.
This left me with the pouches that were originally sewn on to the panel. I really hate wasting, so I got to work making those MOLLE compatible as well. I pretty much had to make everything from scratch besides the flaps. Each pouch holds 3 40mm grenades or flashbangs and attaches to any MOLLE platform using MALICE clips.
Well, that's all for now. I'll post here whenever I make more stuff.
The Admin is about the only thing I am producing to sell at the moment, so keep your eyes open if you're interested.
I'm using a 15-year-old Janome Memory Craft 4000, which has a decently powerful motor and can punch through 500d Cordura no problem. I was going through 8+ layers of it earlier and it was struggling a little but pulled through. I think a better needle would solve most of that though.
Crye-style M4 Pouch (YES this is mine. The Flyye markings and tag were to troll people on another group) I've probably made 10 or 15 of these so far. Everything is identical to the real ones including construction style and materials:
