These types of events aren't for everyone, it's requires a different mindset that's not typical with the airsoft community.
And to go a bit further, there's no teams (other than the faction military groups], however in-game clans or corporations may form, ammo is expensive (so your shots need to count), which also leads to limited weapons... not to say you couldn't purchase a new weapon.. if you have the credits.
Of course this isn't the entire story line or scenario. Story lines and scenarios are developed based on the field in order to make better game play.

Not so much teams as small groups of people who banded together but could be turned on at any moment. Again you say choose your shots wisely then don't use a shotgun use a rifle,You can't really be precise with a shotgun, out of the 10 shots you get how many would go where intended? Unless the shotgun you are referring to is the ones from Walmart that only shoot one BB. Don't get me wrong I'd love to help In any way I can.

Yankee's games are always fun! I agree with spear about that game with multiple teams. Merc'ing was hella fun. Still got all them bottle caps, Evan? Maybe time for a revival. We will have more beef jerkey for the next event. You will know what team to merc for.

I think for a game type such as this, there shouldn't be many people dressed up in military accurate gear. The clothing should be as minimal as the weapons in this case, no decked out plate carriers just basic attire.

Unfortunately doing so will turn off the majority of players when you tell them they can't wear their SEAL loadouts. While I agree, you would need a lot of dedicated players willing to do that. The role players at RAGE's events aren't allowed to wear plate carriers so we've all adjusted our kits to look the part by doing this. But to get everyone at an event to do it just isn't feasible.

I've thought about this before, the body armor I'd allow would be M69/55s PASGTs,RBA.or LBE/LBV and older chest rigs.

I've seen some pretty cool "Road Warrior" chest rigs made out of duct-tape...mmm sounds like I have my next weekend project.

I think everybody is missing the biggest part of these games. Its not always about limiting the gear or guns to match a look. Its about the players buying into their roles. If role players get into it and the regular players get into it instead of turning it into any other OP, the "look" becomes secondary. Id rather play a post apocalyptic op with people wearing modern loadouts but buying into the idea than one that looks perfect but nobody gets into it.

As and avid air softer and gamer one thing pops into my head DayZ. I would love to have to scrounge guns, ammo, food, and gear. As well as having no teams. You can either become a bandit or try to form small groups and survive. The big issue here is that no one is gonna want to just lay there gun somewhere in a field for someone they don't know to pick up and start running around with. There is also a mod that recently came out for DayZ called Battle Royal in which you all spawn in one spot with a few backpacks of random gear in-front of you. You can either run to the bag or book it out of there and search for guns and gear elsewhere. Kinda like Hunger Games. Seems like that would make for a good CQB game. That on a bigger scale would be amazing but unless its a tight nit group of people no one is gonna want to give up there gun, so unless you have an arsenal of rental guns you don't mind losing I don't know how that would work.

While this is late to the conversation, I do like these ideas and would hope to see a game of this scale. Post apocalyptic video games are a hobby of mine and I would like to bring an idea to the table, what if instead of finding guns using a scavenger system where as you find certain items and bring them to a dealer or trader they would give you your replica to use, similar to the traders in Dayz Epoch.
