So I read some of the replys to that lion claws post, and some of the people are talking about having to clean up the bbs from the mall I guess? Is that really true? Because that seems like quite the daunting task

So I read some of the replys to that lion claws post, and some of the people are talking about having to clean up the bbs from the mall I guess? Is that really true? Because that seems like quite the daunting task Part of airsoft is the stewardship of the land you play on. I don't know if you have ever been on the hosting side of an event, but there is a lot of management that goes into keeping land owners happy to keep allowing us back. There have been several times that a lot of us from the SK team have spent about 2 hours after events cleaning up the staging area and parking lot, as well as walking the field at No Limits to make sure everything is in order. Somebody has to do, and if the land owner / major event planer does not have to pay somebody to do it, it will keep prices lower and owners happier. Lets face it, there are a lot of airsofters who aren't very responsible when it comes to cleaning up their own messes. The cleaning of BBs at lightning strike could have come from staging areas where people manage to dump more BBs on the ground than end up in the magazine. If I were a land owner, I know I'd be fairly pissed about piles of BBs that could be a massive trip hazard. There are probably also places in that mall where security staff and whatnot have to patrol somewhat regularly. I would not want somebody to trip and break a leg or something. I know it sounds like a bit of a rant, but if you think of things from a land owner / business point of view, cleaning up your messes and paying for / repairing damages makes a whole lot of sense.

Yeah that does make sense. It just seemed like it would be impossible to clean every bb from inside a structure such as a mall due to the size of the AO. Ill for sure be willing to help clean at an event like that, after all they would be giving you a great experience

Rust, Please use the edit function instead of double posting. Just curious about what I double posted?

Double posting is where you have two posts, one after the other, like you just did again. If you have more to type, simply click the edit button to edit your last post instead of creating a new post.
Double posting is not posting the same thing twice, it is simply having two comment posts in a row without someone else posting in between.

This is why when we have rec games there I make sure the staging area is clear of trash before I leave. I never thought to check the parking lot. I usually just look over and under all the picnic tables to make sure no one left anything (trash or otherwise). I figure if we can keep the owners happy we can continue to come back to an awesome field year after year. I can't imagine the undertaking if they had to clean the entire mall. That just sounds crazy. I clean my basement every few weeks and the cat and I are always finding BBs. The cat doesn't seem to mind playing with them, but my foot doesn't appreciate it.

My cat is the same way in my basement, and the worst is when you step hard on a bb in the middle of your heel. And it does seem almost impossible to clean all the bbs from inside a building, but even if they just wanted help clearing the main areas of bbs it would only make sense that we all pitch in and do our part

Op: Red Storm East sounds awesome, but I won't be able to go to more than one event because of work, and since it would be my first national event Lightning Strike or Northern Light just seem like a better option for me. And out of the two Lightning strike is the better option because it is closer, and winter semester ends for me a couple weeks before it so I would be freed up for it. The only obstacle for me then would be work, but I think if I request time off now that would help me in the long run. And even if I end up not regestering for the event I could just resume work. Thats why I'm hoping they will release more info soon for Lightning strike so I can find Out how much time I will need to request off, and also I need to find others from michigan that are going to Lightning Strike so I can meet some OLCMSS vets from this community.

Just so you know, lightnig strike is most likely being moved back to the mall that it was in last year.
Greg Brothers, the chief of staff for east cost events, said they had clearance from the owners, and were just checking with the city.

The mall would be awesome to play in, and it wouldn't be too hard to get there because I could take a ferry into wisconson. Either way I'm going to do everything I possibly can to be able to go to Lightning Strike because the dates its being held on fit my schedule best. But if I can't go to Lightning strike I'll just have to work around being able to go to Northern Light

It depends on where you live but I've found that the ferry is slower and more expensive than just driving through Chicago. I've made the trip to Milwaukee and back at least a dozen times. Only thing is I'm not sure on the legality of taking an airsoft gun into Chicago.
Edit: Adult is 140 round trip and Autos are 170 round trip. Now assuming you carpooled with one person your talking about $225/person.
Assuming you lived in Muskegon which is best case scenario for the ferry and assuming your car got say 25 MPG which is reasonable I think. You would burn through $40 per person in gas. However since you live in Muskegon you would save 4 hours on your travel time (round trip). So is 4 hours worth $185?
If you're like me and you live in SE Michigan the ferry is about 40 min faster and that's not including getting on/off the ship. So it probably breaks even.

Yeah it would just be eaisier for me to go through chicago, and I'm sure I could find someone to carpool with if it is held in Wisconson, which it seems as though its going to be. But if not Nothern light is always a backup plan, and I'm sure I could manage going to that if I can't make it to Lightning strike, although playing in that mall would be epic
Edit: so for a six hour trip for me (oakland county to milwaukee) its really not that bad. And if people could carpool we could all split the cost of gas and it wouldn't end up being that bad
