I'm gonna stop you right there. There is no reason you should have to spend that much on basic woodland, and considering it's evike that's carrying it, Civi grade woodland. He can literally go to any Military surplus store in the country and pick up a good set for under $25. When we had our german exchange student living with us and we got him into airsoft, we wen't to M33 supply (not a surplus store but they sell surplus items) and picked up good quality M81 with a canteen for about 30 bucks. The pants and Shirt where 12 dollars each and the canteen was 6. Mangnus have your friend shop around he can save a lot of money. Also, the the price of the combat machine, plus a battery and charger (remember they don't come with them, or atleast they used to) is going to be around $180~$200. I've seen people selling airsoft guns on forums and on facebook for a fraction of what the full price would be. In particular, I've seen man selling a Echo 1 MP5 for 200 that comes with - 5, 120rd metal mid cap mags - 1 metal high cap mag - 1 large type battery - 1, 9.6v NiMh butterfly battery - standard bore barrel - 6.01mm tight bore barrel - installed - 400fps spring - 350fps cqb spring - installed - Extra hand guard/flashlight combo with pressure switch www.facebook.com/groups/127017967311017/If someone bought that, they would only be in need of Eye pro and bb's, which can be easily purchased with the remaining 50 he has, also if it is a absolute must, most players have spare pairs of eye pro and can use those.

Ogre, I was trying to keep it on one website for simplicity's sake. I agree that the best bet would be to search military surplus stores for a large portion of his kit. they usually have boots, BDU's and sometimes goggles for cheap. Like I said, everything being on one site was just for simplicities sake. it was good to point out military surplus stores though.
The MP5 is a decent deal, with a battery and charger, but at the same time you're pretty limited to either CQB or shorter-range places like No limits (even no limits has some long portions too). There is a chance that it's a very good gun, but I recommend M4's because of how customizable they are. You can flip them to a DMR, or a cqb gun without too much work. you have no RIS on the mp5, and mounting a scope requires buying a claw mount.
With the 25$ pair of bdu's, 150 for the gun; batteries on this forum run anywhere from 5-15$ for a working 8.4v: A charger can occasionally be grabbed for 15 as well.
With the camo, gun, and the batteries/charger from here he could still be sub-200. 10$ goggles from ebay, 210.
bb's, maybe 15 w/ shipping: 235$
past that, his best bet will be setting aside a small portion of his checks for future spending.

For a first gun, rails and scopes shouldn't e a priority. It's extra money on stuff that could go wrong. As long as the gun works and parts/mags are readily available and the stock parts are good that should be the only priority for a gun.

past that, his best bet will be setting aside a small portion of his checks for future spending. That would be his best bet, another decent starter gun that will hold up stock for awhile would be a KWA CQR. $189 on evike, he would still have to buy a charger and battery but if he waited until he had about 350 he would be able to afford it with everything else. I don't mean to be fanboying over KWA's but they are some high quality stuff.

Ogre's overall point was that great deals can be found in commerce sections on forums or on facebook.
The downside to buying used is that you may be paying to inherit someone else's problem gun.
For a new player, buying used may not be a very good idea unless they are buying from a friend or someone who will let them handle and assess the rifle prior to purchase.

Ok, here goes my two cents on an uber cheap (aka $250 max) start-up. G&G AK47 Combat Machine: (For that ever lovin' AK hi-cap, like Zorak mentioned) www.evike.com/shopping_cart.phpThat link just takes you to an empty shopping cart, you might wanna fix that.

Yeah just link to the actual item, because the shopping cart relies on cookies. And why did you pick the CM ak instead of M4? I'm curious.

As he said, it's because you can get AK hi-cap magazines that hold 600 rounds, which is more than M4 hi-caps can manage. If you only have one magazine, 600 rounds is 1/3 better than 450 rounds.

I guess he could get another Hi-cap to go with it. Seriously, though, scumbag G&G for sticking the AKs with low caps while all the other guns they make get hi-caps.
(Insert 'Scumbag G&G' meme here)
