Yeah I was a little taken back when I returned with a prisoner only to find out almost our entire opfor was "dead." Haha.

I want to start off by saying thanks to Mosin and the rest of RAGE for putting on this event. The patches and bracelets were an incentive, and the MREs made dinner/break time more fun than going to a restaurant. All in all, the whole day was a good experience and I'd like to see more of this type of gameplay in the future. It'd be interesting to have at least half an event run more like the Cold War in that it's more based on reconnaissance, small firefights, and more role playing (negotiations, interogations, etc.). Although the OpFor had a hard time overall, I did enjoy playing as something other than a US force. It was great playing with the rest of you guys on the OpFor. For me, walking around the "bazaar" with my friend as civilians selling "dildos" (paintball containers I found on the ground) definitely mixed things up a bit. Things went well until the fucking infidels took us hostage. At least they didn't take my pistol so at some point I killed my friend and committed suicide. Aside from that, another one of my highlights was going with a small squad to take pot shots at the embassy. I hunkered down behind a tree and some brush after the rest of my squad went back to just pick people off. I got a few hits and saw some of you SEALs needing a medic (thanks for calling your hits by the way). Then for some reason a small squad of about 4 guys left the embassy to go to the CIA base I'm guessing. I saw them and proceeded to hose 'em down and they took some bursts towards me, but apparently none of us got hit. As for the night time operations, I pretty much just stayed in the "compound". Between slight fogging and poor vision, I couldn't do much. Still, it was a great experience.

Relarz, nice try defusing the bombs . I thought you had it then someone blew us up. One of the refs said we needed to take all the bomb parts back to the embassy, so I assumed it was defused because the hose was disconnected (sure made an ass out of myself), picked up the propane tank and BOOM! Guess EOD isn't my calling. Huge thanks to Mosin and the rest of RAGE for putting on this kickass op. Definitely the best I've been to so far. Working as a CIA-SEAL liaison was awesome, got to do some secret squirrel stuff and direct action. Troub, Rel, and Slapjack: I had no idea you guys were US when X and I came across you on the first mission, well done. Also huge props to the SEALs for going in fast and taking out UBL before he could flee after CIA got compromised.

Also huge props to the SEALs for going in fast and taking out UBL before he could flee after CIA got compromised. I only wish I had cleared the right room instead of the left one. Left got me shot in the back, right got Guns the kill shot on UBL. On a different topic, I loved the small amount of role playing that was incorporated. Our ambassador needing to get his afternoon walk in was too funny. He was playing prefect bad AI straight out of a video game. We eventually learned how to let him get his walking in, while keeping him relatively safe. It was definitely a great way of keeping us out of the comfort of the embassy. Also, getting the word that there was civilians, that we shouldn't piss off in the beginning, made encounters so difficult to figure out what to do. When Aussie came up video taping, then ran off, I had no idea what to do. Let him go? Shoot him in the back? If I kill him, will I piss off the locals? If I let him go, is the seals presence discovered? Like I said earlier, the role playing really added a lot to the game.

The early, mid, late and late-late afternoon walks were completely improvised events on my part. I figured that, as an ambassador, it was my goal to keep you guys busy, no matter how banal and redundant the task. Same reason as to why I was attempting to 'recycle' players to and from the field at times.

Tank, you're totally right. The role playing, and immersion made the game so much cooler! From the CIA "interrogations" to using CATs as a medic, and trying to avoid the Pakistani border, it was all the small details that made it exciting. HUGE props to GBiscuit. He played a perfect anxious prisoner, ambassador, and UBL. The immersion went beyond the moderators and roleplayers, though. It seemed like everyone got into character, and that made it so much fun. I think this was achieved (in part) by RAGE setting the tone of the event -- giving us objectives wasn't just, "do this, hold that location for thirty minutes and we'll move on to the next objective." It was, "Ok, guys, here's what happened, and here's what we need to do." It felt like we were given the objectives from our superiors, not from moderators, and that let everyone settle into the environment, and become part of the game, not just a player. The raid on Bin Laden's compound felt very realistic -- right down to snags in our plan. We had separated into three squads, with the intention of attacking simultaneously from the South, East, and West. The squads on the East and West were in position, and we were waiting for our final squad to get in position before we attacked. Then we heard shots fired, and rushed to the compound. Tank went in first to clear the room on our left, and I was right behind him with my pistol and light to clear the first room on our right. I saw two people sitting on the ground next to each other, and fired three shots: two into the man on the right, one into the man on the left. As soon as I had fired the third shot, I realized just who it was: UBL in the flesh. Also huge props to the SEALs for going in fast and taking out UBL before he could flee after CIA got compromised. We couldn't have done it if CIA hadn't risked their tails to get the intel. I really liked the medic system. The only critique I have of it is that I didn't get to set up a CCP. I like that mechanic, but I think it would have been more effective (at least used more) with a larger player base. That being said, I still think we had a great attendance for this game. So perhaps that is a mechanic that could be brought back for future (maybe larger) games, and we can judge just how well it works then.

Hopefully there will be more events like this in the future and like Mosin said hopefully it will change how Milsim events are conducted in general.

Looking forward to the video X, but to answer the question someone asked about the whole MRE box bomb correlation - The actual bomb was placed by a Team RAGE member and (as I'm sure you can ask Relarz and anyone else that was near it when it went off) was a very delicate thing to set up, much less have to break down again to give to the OPFOR. I created the "Box is a bomb" piece so the OPFOR had a physical item to deliver to the location, once it reached destination we would have then had a RAGE member scoop it up and render it out of play.
It really does suck that numbers couldn't have been a little higher on this one, but I do understand how things can happen and we actually had somewhere around 6-8 people who had prepaid not be able to make it because of various reasons. The raid on Bin Ladens compound gave me a little bit of a chub, something about seeing 6 dudes looking like SEALS poke up out of some high grass and move into a compound was awesome, and only makes me wish I had a night camera. The tourniquets I think were a nice touch and seeing medics use them was pretty awesome, my hope was that after the first hour or so they'd basically be at a one per every other man and that way it'd be more having a combat lifesaver there with you and not so much having to rely on the only two medics per team. Another thing I think that's worth clearing up is that ANYONE could have called in a bird and set up a CCP, I think there was a lot of confusion on that and I hope that at my future events that gets a little smoother. Having dudes with red rags walk half way across the field when we had 75% of the staff (birds) within a minute walk distance didn't make much sense to me, but again, these are areas we can improve and focus more efforts on in the future.

That's fine with me. I can't host the video though, my FTP server is down right now. You will have to use YouTube. You might have to leave it on mute. I use the 'F' word extensively while playing, and I'm not the only one. ETA: 5 min... EDIT: it's stuck on 1 min... EDIT2: I love how one of you guys already Thumbed up the video before it's even live EDIT3: Apparently I uploaded it to the wrong YouTube Account and since the other account isn't verified, and the video exceeds 20 min. I have to do everything all over again

Yeah I just realized that. See EDIT 3 above. I'm going to switch accounts to my correct account and reupload the video now. Should be up in a couple hours I guess. I tried to keep it free of boring footage, but for the impatient here's the highlight times: 8:30 : G Biscuit attacks the embassy, you can tell I really didn't want to deal with it 9:30 : Results of some interrogation 15:30 : My too little too late flanking of the OpFor trying to rescue the Intel from the CIA Base (starts with a P?) 17:40 : Guns tries to heal the OpFor.... 22:30 : RayBan Rescue 24:00 : Flanking the OpFor about to take the Embassy. 25:40 : Night Op. 28:10 : Shots Fired / Close encounter with pepe le pue. 29:55 : Bang Kill New link. Should be ready before midnight depending on upload speed / YouTube Processing time.
