Pretty much everything comax stated. Also something to add for next time; don't just make your friends commander of respective sides just because you're their friends. Open it up to other people maybe respected members of Mia? The camo: What a cluster fuck. More defined camo regs would e great to see (I.E guys not running around in M81 trousers and acu combat shirts which were opposing colors ) Also make civilians join one side. It was ridiculious how many were split between the two sides but it was damn near impossible to distinguish who was who. Overall not terrible but room for improvement. Good job. Good job green team on the win. The reason why some Civi's were still on Green was because they were local players, they used to play Airsoft back in the day but go out of it, decided to get back in it, spent there money on gear and didn't have enough room in the budget for camo, but they messaged me way ahead of time and requested to be on green with the rest of our local players. As far as being outnumbered goes, I had talked to the Tan leader and Deputy about balancing teams, he said if there was less than a ten player difference i was told not to bother. in the end it ended up with about 35 on green and 28 on Tan from what I can tell from the roster, although i believe a few Tan players may have left after the Ambulance came because they didn't want to be involved in that. You guys wern't horribly out numbered and kept us on pins and needles the first half of the game, props out out to Immortal for useing great tactics, I believe you had my entire squad pinned at one point? As far as the team leaders went, we were told by a lot of people that Angelo was a good choice, Ryan (the green leader) was choose because he is a Marine, wasn't anything friendship based. I'm glad you guys had fun. What about the safe zone made you feel uncomfortable, I think we had one instance of dry-firing around 10:15? and that was taken care of.I might have missed something since i was running sign in most of the time unill Chrono, then I went and helped with that. EDIT: comax the guy that passed out is fine, he came back after the hospital got him re hydrated took it easier and played a little bit more.

Good to hear that the guy who had the medical issue is fine.
Major props for managing the emergency call so well, and making sure that guy got water and salt into him.
+1 to Radiantsn0w!
I brought a big $5 box of things to sell. I put them over by the raffle thinking that more people would come and rifle through it. Radiantsn0W not only managed selling raffle tickets, but also sold nearly $50 worth of gear and handed me the cash when I came back to check on the box after helping to run the chrono.
What a nice dude!

Hey guys Austin Volk here. The event was fun met a lot of new and cool people. There not really any real problems, other than my gun running out of battery, and obviously people not knowing when they're hit. The game type itself was fun, but I think there need to be other ways to score points. Just incase your team loses the drop points completely....so yeah over all great game, and I can't wait for the next cold-hammer and Jackle

Hey guys,
Had a pretty good time on the first day of OP: Jackal III. Green commander was pretty cool, giving us specific instructions while also realizing that it's an airsoft game and wasn't to bossy or in-your-face. Field was pretty nice, but obviously still a work in progress. Good to see the proper handling of an emergency by stopping the game for a little bit. Hit calling wasn't a huge issue this game from my perspective, but it was obviously an issue for others. The platinum bar gathering was an interesting idea.
Now for my CONs of the game:
1. Too much drama. Airsoft is a supposed to a fun simulation of combat, not a place where people get so aggro when something doesn't go their way. I saw multiple talks of fighting, and even more cases of overall aggression. For what? It's a game, guys. Fighting on the airsoft field does nothing, but get you banned. Those who had problems, get over it. It happens, and remember: IT'S A GAME.
2. The platinum bars gathering, while interesting, was not really my thing. It seemed everywhere we went there were huge stacks of bars. Since you can only take one bar at a time, it makes gathering bars a tedious, and monotonous task that can take a very long time. Also, if this idea is to be used in the future, make less bars. The more bars there are, the less important each one is. It got to the point to where I would be "tan hunting" and come across a stack of bricks. Rather than taking the time to pick every single one up, I would stuff one in my pocket and continue on. If I was near the drop-off I would drop it off, but it wasn't really a priority for me or my squad. I would have liked to see more variation in the objectives such as, capture-and-hold objectives.
3. In the future, you need to be more strict about camo restrictions. There were many instances where I had no idea what team some people were on. Green uniforms, or tan uniforms. Not that difficult and it's one of my biggest gripes with any game.
A bit of a side note: To the guy who was being a "spy": Being that it was your first event I can mildly understand. However, if I had been one of the green guys that you "bang bang bang......" killed, I would have turned my rifle on you and let you have it as well. In future games, don't do it. It's unsportsmanlike and can really make some people angry. It's a bit of an unwritten rule that if you are called out to identify yourself, you don't lie about it, especially in a game where camo restrictions aren't as strict as they should be and people have no idea who is on what side. I'm glad you had fun and I hope you heed my advice, and the advice of others, for future events.
Overall opinion of the game: It was fun to go out and shoot people, but hopefully the event coordinators take our advice into consideration when trying a game with this style again. Thank you to everyone who put the event together and allowed us to come out and sling some plastic.

(I'm the guy with the blue Mohawk) As this was me and my crew's first organized event, I think we had a lot of fun having a huge group of players to work with/against. As some have already said, the platinum bars was an interesting aspect of the game, but I found myself as well as many others, doing a lot more running back and forth for platinum than actually engaging enemies, but no suggestions on that besides maybe what the other guys have already suggested. Camo was a bit of an issue in some cases, maybe civi players could have been like a 3rd party or maybe some sort of way for team leaders using Platinum we've gathered, to purchase one of them as a mercenary until they died or something? As far as the "Spy" issue, I was part of the first group u shot as we were assaulting a tan group, I wasn't pissed at all, ill leave that one to whoever had a problem then. Physical fire I was dead, no big deal to me. When you came over and tried to apply the "Bang Bang rule" well another player already went over that above me, but the whole "Spy" thing was never announced over the speaker as far as I can recall, thus, making that role unplayable to all players regardless of the side your are on. Overall, as far as enforcing the rules of the game, I think we just didn't have enough people to provide enough ref coverage when it came to deciding how to deal with the various complications everyone may have came across. A lot of tempers flared at the event, which is common, but for the most part it seemed like a friendly event. We met a lot of new players from all over Michigan and seen a lot of crazy setups you guys had My crew is happy that the player who was hurt made it back ok and great job to the hosts for conducting the emergency withdraw from the field. Hope we get to play with y'all again sometime

Let me start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed the event. There were some minor hiccups along the road, but they are easy fixes.
Pros: 1. Lucked out with the nice weather. Not too hot!
2. Friendly event staff. I had the event organizer come over to me and ask how it was going. He wants to improve his game if he can.
3. Camping area available and also plenty of parking. Organizers also opened their house up to us. Very kind.
4. Didn't have any issues with people calling their hits. That's a big plus.
5. Not that far away - only 2 hours.
6. FREE.
7. Night game was fun. Ended up crawling up to a tent for an hour only to find that the one guy had deserted it. Had about 5-6 guys behind me at that point, all on their belly. Was tense, but a bit confused when no one was there.
Cons: 1. Raffle money for the gun should have been given back to the players if they didn't reach the "gun cost". Also, you guys NEED to get a raffle license, it's not hard!
2. Too much drama. Idiots on the radio, people yelling at each other (unwarranted), bad uniform regulations, and "spies".
The guy on the radio couldn't have been prevented, and angry people are going to be angry, so there isn't much you could do about that.
I would recommend posting STRICT uniform regulations in the event info and declare that anyone not conforming to regulations will be turned away on location. If they have any questions, they should take pictures of their loadout for verification. People should not be wearing red and blue. If you allow this to happen, you ruin the experience for everyone else. To the guy who was acting as a spy: What you did may have been OK in your mind, but anyone who has been playing airsoft for more than a few events will know that uniforms are almost always confusing and it is in poor taste to wear enemy colors and act as a spy.
3. Loaned my goggles out to a blonde kid who came in a pickup parked in the outer most area. I asked if he was going to stay the night, to which he said yes and after the beginning of the second game, never saw him again. Probably won't get my brand new goggles back. Whether or not he contacts me will be the deciding factor on whether I loan out gear again. You know who you are, it's your responsibility to get my gear back to me, not the other way around.
Overall fun, but plenty of room for improvement. The event organizer has a lot of potential to learn, will be looking out for more events from Ogre.

This was also my first public event, and I was (for a beginner) very impressed. It was obvious they took rather large steps to ensure our safety and make sure we were for the most part following guidelines. Before I came to the event, I was joking around at the the whole backstory and objectives (Brazilian Michigan?) But I ultimately found the whole platinum bars thing quite enjoyable. The players were soooooooo welcoming. Some dudes let me eat some of their MRE's, another group recruited me into their squad for a while, and let me stash my guns in their tent when the EMTs showed up. So, for someone who basically took up the sport in a week like me, you guys took me in pretty quick, and I'm very thankful for that. AS FOR DRAMA AND STUFF - I was one of the ones to get "bangbang"ed by the gentleman in blue, and it kinda seemed to me like the host (with us on green) fought hard to stay in play just because he messed up our offensive. Like the tan team, we had a guy without team colors on and he could've done the same thing. We just weren't expecting it, which made us all kinda upset. (sorry if I acted like a jerk, man.) The emergency situation was handled VERY well, and it's those kinds of safety measures and actions that make people want to come back. As for the faulty smoke grenade situation, I kinda didn't like the reaction from tan "Are you TRYING to kill us??" Well, it was a FAULTY grenade, and the thrower made sure it released a small bit of smoke before throwing it. Thanks be to God that our medic is ok. He was joking around this morning when I went back for an hour or two. OH YEAH, which reminds me, apparently a handful of guys got smashed out overnight. And using thunderbees and smelling salts to wake them up this morning was funny, but probably not a good idea for future reference. Overall, THANK YOU ALL for making my first airsoft event a memorable one, and accepting me in the way you did. Can't wait for the next one!

Here is my official statement as one of the hosts. This is Shane by the way, I was the one who did the briefing and the majority of the mic work. I will try to go over everything from start to finish. If I miss anything, I'll edit or post again. I'll also respond to any questions or comments directed at me. We had 82 players show, new record! The briefing and the beginning went well. 98% of people followed the rules of the safe zone and if there were any issues with the safe zone rules being bent, it was taken care of swiftly. Chrono was open all morning and also went smoothly. Only issues we had in the beginning were with players doddling around in the parking lot and not getting to the front despite the efforts of the hosts and staff. We got everyone lined up and out on the field in almost a timely manner as well. Also had issues (with some of the same players) taking too much time messing around at their vehicles. All I have to say about that is: Come on guys, we aren't running this on your time. Speaking of time, we had a few players show up late and miss the entire briefing, all the safety rules and rules of the game. This may have caused some confusion on the field and with game play. On one hand of this argument, please show up on time. We must be organized with this amount of people and organization means a time schedule. If we start waiting for everyone, we'd never play. On the other half of the argument, I should have bought more signs to put out with all of the rules and posted them for this very reason, so my apologies. The game. Started off very well. Somehow the green team didn't hear the horn to start the game. I could blame this on the horny ref not honking it long enough or in all directions, or I can blame it on the green team messing around and not paying attention. The horn could be heard from everywhere. Either way, slow start for green but the game was off to an awesome start otherwise. Teams were playing the objective. Then we had an emergency. The ref sounded the horn for the emergency and all players reacted quickly and efficiently. I want to thank EVERYONE for this. In the end, the player with the emergency was perfectly fine and was able to enjoy the rest of his weekend once he returned to the field. After that break, the game went in greens favor. We had the usual complaints games always get and the only way to remedy this would be with more refs. I wish I had the resources to have a bunch of refs, but it's a big field.. It's tough. This was definitely a game that required team work, strong leadership and for people to PLAY THE OBJECTIVE! This was a scenario game, not a rec game, killing the other team just won't cut it. In the end, green took the win with some nice tactics. I think I may have seen an assembly line of brick gathering and they also had us locked down for awhile at our HQ which REALLY crippled us (Which was a riot to finally break free from, if I might add!). It's part of the game guys, this stuff happens. I still had fun and I know other players did. This scenario was definitely a different one, if I were to do it over, I know what changes I would make . Thanks for being the Guinea pigs everyone Game play. This was my idea from the get go and a brand new one at that. I believe it went well, but it was new and there were a few kinks. I will agree with most players and say that brick gathering should not have been the only objective. While it was fun, it did get monotonous and players slowly drifted away from the objective and just started killing each other. If we run something like this again, some things will be changed. Now, we did have some complaints from a few players that they didn't like the game play.. In fact, the tan leader came up to us and wanted to change the entire game around... after I personally invested a lot of time, money and effort into this game. This didn't set well with me. It was a new idea and I couldn't possibly see the outcome. I have several things I want to say, but I'm not going to points fingers around as I'm sure I could have worked things a tad differently as well. What I will say is that this event has been posted for quite awhile, everyone should have read how the game was going to play. If you didn't like it, why show? If you didn't read it, shame on you.. just don't come into an event and tell the hosts and organizers to change it all because you and your group do not like it. Camo. Our fault. We should have been more strict. To players in the future, you DO NOT need to get expensive gear to play airsoft. If you're on the green team and don't have camo, buy a green t-shirt and wear some black pants. If you're on tan, buy a tan shirt. That is all you need. I've been playing for close to 11 years now and to this day, I still wear basic colors. I wore tan pants, black shirt and a tan hat. I own hunting camo's and that is it, none for airsoft. That is all that is needed. For this being one of the only main issues of the game, this is good for us as we have had much larger problems in the past. For the next event, we will be much more clear. Drama. Something we can't always control. Get a bunch of people in one setting and it's bound to happen. More refs on the field and more people monitoring what is going on is what we need. I also don't believe we need to babysit every one on the field, so guys, from me... come on! The raffle. Sorry we couldn't give away everything. We had 5 things up for grabs, 1 item didn't get any tickets bought for it, we were able to give away the Thunder-B's, the Aimpoint and the Bipod Foregrip. This was meant to just be for fun and to add a little extra to the game. It was also a last minute thing, so no, we didn't have a "raffle license". This will be the first and last time we do it without a license since it seemed to be a problem for 1 person (which ironically, after lecturing us about the license, bought tickets? I have nothing else to say). Sorry. As far as the raffle, we didn't get this stuff for free. One of our guys bought EVERYTHING for the raffle. I would have loved to give away the gun, BUT, he spent $180 on the gun and we only netted $116 in ticket sales for the gun. So we decided to do a 50-50 and raffle off all of the cash that was netted for the gun. We kept none of it. $58 went to 2 players. There is no possible way we could have individually given each and every player their money back. Sorry if this was a problem to anyone, next time we will try to get donations for free stuff to give away. Fun fact though, the person who bought all of the stuff for the raffle still lost a bit of money as he said it was okay to raffle off a few items that didn't net that much money. He did this for you guys!! Big thanks to him. If anyone feels cheated or uneasy about the way the raffle went, PM me and I'll give you all of the details. Once again, I believe it went just as any raffle does and we made 0 profit. Monies spent went to the player who bought the items, nothing was left over to cover what was spent for supplies for the game. Conclusion. Thank you everyone. I enjoyed helping run things and learned a little bit myself. I enjoy doing this sort of stuff very much. I hope everyone else had a great time and to end it all off, I'd give the entire thing an 8 out of 10. I wish I could please everyone, but I just can't :/. Thanks for coming out, thank you to our refs and staff who helped out and congrats to the green team for the win! Shane

Oh forgot to mention, while preparing our gear by the road, we had what appeared to be a father on his dirtbike, at first we thought other bikers were going the wrong way on the trail path that is about 150ft or so behind us as we heard him yell "Woah woah woah". We happened to all look and watch being as he had disappeared but then eventually rode up to us screaming at us. "Your not f#cking shooting down the paths are you?" As we promptly replied with no and that we were getting ready to play airsoft with "nonlethal guns". He seemed to not understand but shrugged us off and went on his merry way.i didn't know what to say about that but just a piece of information that you may use to keep players safe and/or the neighbors as well.

First off I'd like to say that I had a pretty decent time but there's always room for improvement. It's always good seeing a bunch of players who are brand new, especially in northern MI. And I would like to give a HUGE internet pat on the back to the guys for how well they handled the emergency situation.
So down to it then....
PROS: 1. Seemed to be better organized compared to last year, improvement is always great. 2. Using a microphone to announce rules is a great idea since most fields don't. 3. The premise behind the event was simple enough. Will continue the thought on cons. 4. Good turn-out for a NorMI OP. 5. Hits were almost always called, every OP will have a few that dont. That is normal. 6. You guys have a good thing going, keep improving.
CONS: 1. CAMO- I understand that the start-up costs can be a little daunting, but nowhere in the initial brief did I hear of civilian attire wearing players having any way of being distinguished. 2. Kill rags- There were multiple instances of players being over shot, my squad is also guilty of this, due to an incredible lack of kill rags or any visible way of calling hit. The lack of experience among the players was blatantly apparent. To avoid being hit again after you're out, talking to the players here, buy a kill rag, stick your hand in the air and wave it like you just don't care, hold your replica up in a non-threatening manner. Kill rags (red bandanas) cost $1 at Walmart. 3. Drama- The blow-up during the emergency break was completely unprofessional and pretty much destroyed the mood. The person in question apologized and that kind of thing happens. I also witnessed two instances of a fight being threatened. Airsoft is a game, jail time for assault is real. Yet again to the players, overshooting happens. If you don't have a kill rag or are not even trying to actively signal that you are hit you'll probably be shot multiple times before reaching spawn. Part two of that is that bb's DO NOT magically fall to the ground after hearing the word "HIT", they continue on until gravity or an object disrupts their flight. 4. The objective was simple enough, but too simple. With only one objective, only being allowed to carry one brick at a time, and no conflicting objectives it felt like it was turning into a rec-game. If you do another event with a similar setup, being allowed to car two or three bricks at one time will keep people more interested on the task at hand.
Overall you guys did a good job, just keep on improving. I think that most of us had a pretty decent time.
