I've got an uncle up north in the Mt pleasant area, and he's looking to start selling some Airsoft gear and guns. He also owns 80 acres or so that he can and would devote to an Airsoft field if he has enough interest.
What he needs to know is: Is it worth the $ for him to invest in the field and gear? How many people at 20-25$ would be willing to drive out and play? What kind of structures/Barriers would you like? What weaponry would you like to see?
Mt Pleasent is about as close as you can get to the center of Michigan; which means everyone drives about 2, maybe 3 hours. Kzoo and Detroit will be about the same, while Lansing will be a litle less. Also, this means that us down south can see our associates in Traverse and the northern regions.
This is just to test interest on the field: Here are some specifics:
There is a totally natural island in the middle of a river. The river is about waist deep and is passable. The river winds through the property, and there are several bridges acrossed it.
It is mainly woodlands, with open field pockets and also little sheds There are several large elevation changes, appx 50 fet or so. There's also a massively steep sledding hill at appx 100 difference. There are several ravines as well, which drop down 5-6 feet.
There are some marshy areas as well, but you will sink ankle deep in mud: All he needs to know is if it's worth relocating a lot of money. The hope is that a centralized field will bring in a lot more people than our other fields.
Please post: Ideas, questions ,etc.

I honestly think this is a great idea and would go all the time! I only live about and hour and a half away and would be willing to make the drive there anytime!

Sounds great. I drive north of mt. Pleasant most weekends in the summer already. We are in need of a centeralized field in MI that hosts regular games.

I am very interested in this. Mid-Michigan needs a field pretty bad.

The field sounds very interesting. Being from the Detroit area I likely would only make it up there a couple of times per year depending on the game being hosted and projected attendance.

I live 20 minutes from Mt. Pleasant and I would love to see a field up here. I know many of people who live around here that would like a field too.

Living in SoMich must be nice. seems like I have to drive around 3 hours for every OP I attend. But to answer the OP's question it sounds like an incredible idea. That's close enough to bring a lot of northern players into the fold whose chief complaint is the distance required to travel to attend OPs that are all the way at the southern edge of the state.

Well it's good to hear we have some interest. However what he really wants to know is whether or not teams will commit to coming up, because 5-6 people wont even dent the insurance payment.
Also, what kind of structures would you like?
He's planning on becoming a g&g certified seller, as was recommended to me from cats (doom), and also selling your typical duster, green gas and co2 pistols as well.
Any recommendations?

You're not going to get teams to commit to coming to a field just by opening it. You need people running good events to make it worth the trip. My honest impression is that any airsoft field in MI is going to be a labor of love, not a big earner.

I recognize that Zorak, were more or less trying to break even here. If that's impossible with Airsoft, we'll expand to paintball as well. as far as team commitments, we were simply wondering who would be willing to try it out? If we get people out for the first game, then after that it's all our fault if it doesnt go off well. I know I'm not experienced enough to run events, or to even try, but I'm hoping that some people with the know-how to run a good event might step forward. I'm simply asking if we build it, will they come? Also, After looking at the MAP project, we seem a little devoid of CM players, something I hope this changes.

Immortal would at least give it a try. Our team is based out of the Birch Run/Clio area.
As far as building structures? I'd like to see several villages with small houses and medium sized buildings. These villages could include a church, hopsital, ect. In my opinion, nothing is more fun that coming up to a village and having to clear it out.

Talked to a few team members, Last Pandemic would love to come help out if you guys get a build day going. As far as an getting an event out, since that would be biggest field in the central Michigan area, I'm sure you would get groups who would love to host out there, Probably Catz group (DOOM), Immortal and my group.
